Odis Dean Smith, 84, of Damascus was called home by his Lord on June 11, 2025. He was born at home in Conway to Owen and Modenia Smith. He grew up in Wooster where he attended The Wooster School and later graduated from Greenbrier High School in 1959. Following graduation, he made a career working for the local pipefitters union. Odis Dean married Sharon Lee Klein on November 16, 1962. Together they established a loving home where they raised their three sons, Danny, Paul, and David and hosted countless friends and family through the years. Odis Dean and Sharon served the Lord in music ministry for 37 years, an example that many in the family have followed. In 1960, Odis Dean began his service to our country by enlisting in the Army National Guard, where he served for 6 years. Then from 1976-2001, he served in the Arkansas Air National Guard where he retired as a Master Sergeant. He was a devoted husband, loving father, doting grandfather, and loyal friend. Odis Dean will be remembered for his love for and service to the Lord, his dedication to his family, and his sweet spirit.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Owen Darrell Smith and Oma Modenia Smith. Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 62 years, Sharon Smith, sons, Danny Smith, Paul (Connie) Smith, David (Jeanie) Smith, sisters, Marilyn (Lyn) Tubbs, Judy (John) Atkinson, brother, Randy (Gloria) Smith, 11 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. The family appreciates the outpouring of love and support during this time of bereavement.
