Carl Arthur Hunt

of Little Rock, AR

September 30, 1936 - March 12, 2023

Carl Arthur ''Artie'' Hunt, 86, of Little Rock, peacefully left his Earthly family to join his Heavenly family on Sunday, March 12, 2023, entering his Heavenly home where he will worship the God he loved forever and ever.

Artie was born September 30, 1936 in Pine Bluff.

Survivors are his wife of 65 years, Martha ''Mott'' Hunt and three sons, Scott, Brian and Todd and four beloved Grandchildren; Cannon, Tessa, Leo and Cooper.

He was predeceased by his parents Victor and Rosa Hunt and four siblings; Jo (Steele), John (Pat), Ava Nelle O'Bryan (Gordon) and Billy (Eva).

Surviving siblings are Vicky Foti, Charlene Yarbrough (Norris) and David (Beegee) with no shortage of beloved nieces, nephews, extended family and cherished friends.

Artie graduated from Pine Bluff High in 1954. He excelled in athletics and achieved many honors including First Team All State Football and Golden Gloves Boxing Champion. Other interests were public speaking and poetry composition. He was a math whiz and showed strong leadership abilities early in life.

He attended U of A in Fayetteville, graduating in 1959 with High Honors. In 1960 he received his MBA and soon after became a CPA. After college he became Professor of Accounting at LRU (now UALR) then business executive in Nashville, Birmingham and Little Rock, eventually starting his own family business, working there until retirement.

A devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend, Artie's greatest lifelong passion was being an evangelical Christian, wearing many hats in his work for the lord, this included bible teaching (adults throughout the early years) and was ''Mr. Artie'' to his beloved fourth graders at Bible Church until his health declined.

Highpoints of his life from 2000-2010 were frequent mission trips to Myanmar (Burma) where he was instrumental in the development of Myanmar Bible Seminary and a water treatment plant. He established relationships with pastors and laypeople alike, providing encouragement and sound teaching.

Memorial service will be at The Bible Church of Little Rock, 19111 Cantrell Rd. on Saturday, April 8 at 10:00 AM

In lieu of flowers, please send donations to The Bible Church of Little Rock.

Martha, I just happened to come across this news about Carl. We are so very sorry. You and Carl were part of our pre-married life (IE:me asking you to join me when I asked Nancy for a first date) as well as being the reason I ever met my beloved Nancy. We still hang the ornament you gave us with our first date painted on a house. Many, MANY great memories of Carl. Our prayers are with you and the boys.

Artie was not only my brother and friend, but one of my two lifelong spiritual mentors to whom I always went for advise. He encouraged me in my walk with the Lord, set an example for me, challenged me and amazed me with his knowledge, his wit, and his love for the Lord. We shared a common love for furthering the kingdom of Christ. I am forever grateful for Artie.

FB season 1954 Artie was all everything at middle LB. I was the defensive Safety backing him up. He made me look good. Before each home game my Dad prepared our pregame meal. The same each time, ‘minute steak, French fries and milk(from Hunt Dairy). Artie was the best defensive player on the Zebras that season and took home All State Honors to show for his accomplishments.
I have held Artie up as my Hero since our Lakeside School days through his business accomplishments and life well lived. RIP My friend forever.
