of Mountain Home, AR
September 1, 1935 - February 17, 2023
Charles H. Harness was born on September 5, 1935 on the family farm near Leslie, Arkansas. He was 87 years old when he passed away on February 17, 2023. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Rosemary Sutterfield Harness; his son, Matt Harness (Paula) of Rockwall, Texas and daughter, Carmen Harness Williams (Waylon) of East End, Arkansas. He never tired of his beloved grandchildren, Megan Cuzen (Ben) of Dallas, Texas, Brittany Smith (Hunter) of Newport, Arkansas and Lauren Williams of East End, Arkansas. He had two great grandsons, Wyatt Smith and Max Cuzen and three great granddaughters, Brooklyn and Presley Smith and Camden Cuzen. Charles was the son of the late Guy and Myrtle Harness and the younger brother of Betty Acree Johnson (2021).
Charles retired in 1999 from the Razorback Linen Company of Mountain Home, which he co-founded in 1978. Charles was an avid sportsman his entire life. Whether he was running along Big Creek as a kid or coaching youth baseball as a young dad or pursuing his lifetime sport of fishing, he was always engaged in outdoor activities. He served as a past president of the Lake Norfork Bass Club. He was a member of East Oakland Baptist Church. We cherish the memories of our father, poppy, uncle, friend and coach. To be absent from the body is to be present with the lord.
I just found this and I am so sorry for you and your family's loss. He was so much to me that you will never know. I only wish I could have spent more time with him in or later years. I hope this finds the family healthy and well. God bless the Harness family.
Dear Rosemary,
Faye and I are saddened to learn of Charles passing. We have such fond memories of being with you and Charles when we lived in Mountain Home. I loved fishing with him and Larry Loden. They taught me all I know about fishing.
With much love,
Faye and Wayne
I am so sorry to hear of Charles' passing. I have very fond memories of growing up with Charles, Rosemary, Matt, and Carmen in my life. You will never know a better guy than Charles. God bless you, Rosemary, as you navigate life without him. You have always been special to me. Love to all. Beverly and James Troy Massey
So sorry to hear about Charles passing. I always enjoyed visiting with him down through the years. I will keep you and your family in my prayers.
Rosemary, Matt and Carmen, so sorry for your loss. I always loved to tease Charles and see how long it took to ''fluster'' him. May the good memories sustain you.
Stan and I always enjoyed getting to see Charles at the cousins' reunion. He dearly loved to fish and would become so excited any time he told one of his fishing stories. The love Charles and Rosemary had for one another was special. We pray God gives Rosemary and the family comfort during this difficult time, and that they can take comfort in knowing we will see Charles again.
