Carolyn Rose Bradford

of Van Buren, AR

March 13, 1945 - February 1, 2023

On February 1st, 2023, Carolyn Rose Bradford was united with her Heavenly Father. She was unified with her beloved late husband, Jimmy Don Bradford, and siblings; Bobbie Sue (JW) Nicholson, Veda Jo (Ed) Hutchison, Joe Jr. Canady and James Ray Canady. Carolyn was a member of the Bee Branch Baptist Church.

Carolyn, born to Joe Canady and Vera Jo Canady on March 13, 1945, is survived by her daughter, Shawn and son-in-law, David Stobaugh, grandchildren; Taylor (Duncan) Starr, Zac Stobaugh, great grandchildren; Zoey Grace, Ian Starr and distinct friend, Elmer McCall, all of Van Buren, Arkansas.

Carolyn attended South Side High School where she met her future husband, Jimmy Don. Carolyn and Jimmy Don would be happily married for 42 years. In these years they built a family full of love and adventure. The couple enjoyed traveling the countryside on their motorcycles with close friends and family. Carolyn was a devoted basketball fan and enjoyed following her daughter's career in college athletics. Carolyn and Jimmy Don purchased what is known as the Art Scanlan House of Bee Branch, built in 1906. The couple restored the residence in 1994, rivaling its original beauty, around the time her first grandchild, Taylor was born. The home was featured in the National Register of Historic Places.

Carolyn retired from the South Side School District after 32 years of teaching. She loved children and would often reminisce on memories she made with her students. Carolyn carried this love for children throughout her life. She enjoyed nothing more than spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. For many, she was simply known as ''Mom.'' Her infectious energy and laughter will live on in the hearts of her loved ones forever.

A memorial service to celebrate Carolyn's life will be held at 1:30 pm on Sunday, February 12, 2023 at the Roller McNutt Funeral Home in Clinton, Arkansas.

Such a sweet lady and loved by many in the Bee Branch community. A teacher is gone but never forgotten. Glad the Lord let our paths cross even if just for a while. Sorry for your loss but heaven gained a good soul.

Every time I look at you I see Carolyn. She was indeed one of a kind. She was truly a mom and grandmother who loved her family with all her heart. I know you will all miss her, but she is so comforted and happy in heaven. I love all the memories I have of her. She was always happy and ready to go. May GOD give you HIS comfort and strength to get through this hard time.

I have very many vivid many memories of Mrs. Bradford, my 4th grade teacher. She was such a colorful character. At the fall festival she would always do a festive cake walk in her classroom that was so much fun. I still associate her with the song, “I got magic, alakazam-a-kazoo!” She certainly seemed magical to me with her red hair and makeup. I remember how she would put her makeup on while we were busy doing our work. She called it “putting on her face.” When a kid asked her why she always had to put it on, she said “Well I can’t go around here looking like a dog now, can I”” 😂 She had a very creative way of teaching math, specifically long division. She made up a whole story about where the numbers were going so we could remember how to do it. With Mrs. Bradford teaching it, suddenly long division seemed like so much fun, just like her. 😍❤️

Sorry to hear of Mrs. Bradford's passing. She was an excellent teacher and was very good to me. We had a lot of fun during that fourth grade year! There were only 12 of us in her class that year and we all got along well! That was largely because of Mrs. Bradford and the manner in which she took care of of us!

I am so very sorry to hear of Mrs. Bradford’s passing. She was my 4th grade teacher at South Side and I still have fond memories of my time in her class! I remember watching her put on makeup in class, when she made us roasted pumpkin seeds, the times we got to let the bird out of its cage, and the sweet way she would interact with each of us. It was so special to have a fellow redhead as a teacher and she will be missed so dearly. My deepest sympathies to her family during this time, and the days to come.

Shawn, so sorry to hear of your mom. You 2 were peas in a pod! She and your dad and Vedo Jo made all your ball games. The ladies could get hot real quick if things weren’t going in your favor. Carolyn always had her hair fixed, makeup and nails done. Her laugh was contagious! Still brings a smile when I think it. Thinking of you and your family. Sincerely, jami

Shawn, I am so sorry about the passing of your mom. I will always remember how she opened her home up to several members of our NAC basketball team on our way to a concert. She was so welcoming and made us food❤️ And she was always so nice to me when I saw her at our games. I always think of her when I drive by that white house in Bee Branch. Prayers for you and your family.

I almost forgot on my last post! Carolyn was also a gifted beautician in her early years. She did my hair for our wedding in 1964 and cut our first daughter’s bangs the first time they were cut. Thank you, Carolyn!
