I met Mr. Smith as a ten year old when he signed me up to play on his Patey’s Garage little league team. Tim Byrd, Stuart Mays, Steve Yablonski and I played together and Mr. Smith coached us to the city championship as 12 year olds. We practiced everyday from about 5:30 until dark. Many evenings he would load us up in the back of his truck and take us all home. Several of us played for him in Babe Ruth as well and won more championships. We loved playing for him and loved him like a second father. Our deepest condolences for your loss. You are in our prayers.
I am sorry to hear about the death of Jimmy Smith. I will always remember when he and Evelyn showed up in Victoria, MS for Mark's rasslin' match. It was a real hoot. My prayers for the family.
