Bobby R. Owens, 82, of Bono, passed away peacefully Tuesday night at his home surrounded by his family. He was born May 13, 1939 to Robert and Carman Kackley Owens in Monette, AR. He was a 1958 graduate of Jonesboro High School. Bobby proudly served his country 20 years in the United States Navy. During his time of service, he was in the Vietnam War and saw many parts of the world over those years. After his retirement, he came home and worked at KFIN radio station as a chief engineer, or more commonly known as, ''Engineer Bob.'' After working many years there, he decided to go to work for the United States Post Office Distribution Center in Jonesboro, where after a few years, he retired and took several more trips with his wife and family.

Bobby was a member of Herman Baptist Church and of the American Legion Post #21, and was an avid blood donor and a volunteer driver for DAV. He loved reading, visiting old museums, working in the yard and watching westerns, especially with Clint Eastwood.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Carman Owens; and one sister, Betty Owens.

Bobby is survived by his wife of 62 years, Janet French Owens of the home; one daughter, Kimberley (Rodger) Wadlow of Arkadelphia; sons, Bryan (Donna) Owens of Jonesboro and Troy (Tammy) Owens of Ocala, FL; one sister, Linda Norman of Newport; grandchildren, Aaron Cupp of Arkadelphia, Abby Owens of Jonesboro, Jesse and Patrick Owens of Jonesboro, Hannah Ingle of Ocala and Madison Ingle of Clarksville, TN; five great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Janet, I really liked and respected Bob. He was a great Finance Officer when I was Commander at the Legion. He was also a very respected member of the Craighead County Veterans Honor Guard. I know You will miss him and I also will miss a friend and brother in arms. May God bless you.

I am sorry for your loss. I was privileged to work with Bob at the Postal service. I enjoyed working with Bob, he was easy to work with he always did his job. I even loaned him my vacuum pump so he could install an AC unit. I cannot remember if that was the last time I saw him or if the last time I saw him was at the Aldi's.

It is deep regret that I hear this news of the loss of a dear friend Bob Owens. His first cousins or my first cousin but we are no blood relation. We are sons Patriots of this country his blood run hot with patriotism for his country and his family. Bob was a man of few words and a man of action. I am deeply honoured to have been able to call Bob a good friend he will be missed by one and all. No more pain - RIP BOB
