Curtis L. Burgess

of Guy, AR

July 20, 1943 - November 11, 2021

Curtis L. Burgess, 78, of Guy, Arkansas, passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 11, 2021. He was born to the late Eldo Burgess and Ruth Bayless Burgess on Tuesday, July 20, 1943, in Murfreesboro, Arkansas.

He spent his growing up years between Murfreesboro and Guy, graduated in 1961 from Guy-Perkins High School, and married his sweetheart, Martha Allen of Guy on February 2, 1965. Eventually they settled to Guy to raise their family.

He did lots of things over the years, but primarily helped run Guy Auto Supply, then opened, owned and operated Greenbrier Auto Supply until selling the business and retiring in 2000.

He was considered a son by the late Daphne Hooten of Guy, the Fred, Jr., and Deautuan Kizzia of Murfreesboro, as well as his father-in-law and mother-in-law, the late L.C. Allen and Adell Karber Allen Pratt of Guy, Arkansas.
He was a friend to many, a mentor, a brother (real and foster), the BEST Daddy, Grandad, and Husband that God could give us.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Vance and Mack Burgess, sister Nancy Kizzia and his ''other'' Mamas and Dads.

He is survived by his wife of fifty-six years, Martha Allen Burgess of Guy, Arkansas; son, Tim Burgess (Lannie) of Guy, Arkansas; daughter, Sheri Burgess Crymes of Guy, Arkansas; sister, Jane Kizzia Caldwell of Murfreesboro, Arkansas; brothers, Jerry and Dick Kizzia of Murfreesboro, Arkansas; grandchildren, Alyssa Burgess Jones (Jaron) of Wooster, Arkansas, Brogan Crymes, Connor Crymes, Paige Burgess, Jordan Burgess, as well as many, many other ''adopted'' kids, grandkids, and family. He said he had two kids, five grandkids and as many others as he could gather.

''We are sad, but God is good all the time, and He has us.''

Funeral services will be held on Monday, November 15, 2021, at 2:00pm, in the chapel of Roller-McNutt Funeral Home, Greenbrier, Arkansas, with interment in Copperas Springs Cemetery, Guy, Arkansas. A visitation with family will be held one hour prior to the service.

I never got to meet Curtis in person. I met him through Facebook and we talked on the phone several times. He was always friendly and upbeat. From our phone calls I could tell he was loved by so many people and he loved so many people. Curtis you are in a better place and I'll get to meet you in Heaven Brother. You Are Loved.

Curtis has been my friend for a long time. He loved life and thought he would live at least another 10 years. That was only a few days before he passed. I just found out today that he was gone.

I will miss him greatly.

Bye good friend.

So sad to hear of Curtis' passing. I met him a few years ago through an online auction. When I met Chrtis I considered him a friend right off. I know there is going to be a void in alot of lives. I do know that he has gone to see Jesus now.

I know Curtis is in a greater place and in no pain but my heart is broken and I am sad. He was so special to me. You could ask him how he was everyday and he would always say "Fantastic!" I will truly miss him. I am praying for his family to get through this loss. Hugs to all.........
