Dr. R. Scott Ezell

of Mountain Home, AR

October 2, 2021

Ronald Scott Ezell, M.D., passed away October 2nd, 2021 at his home in Mountain Home, Arkansas. Dr. Ezell was born September 4th, 1963 to Ronald Howard and Judith (Bryant) Ezell. He is survived by his parents, his wife of 35 years, Dee Ann (Pierce) Ezell; son, Nicholas Scott ''Cole'' Ezell and wife Sally (Chen), their three sons, Carter, Emmett, and Milo; daughter, Jordan Leigh (Ezell) Carlisle and husband Austin, their four children Hunter, Noah, Ella, and Greyson; and one sister, Pamela Ezell. He was loved by more friends and family than could possibly be listed.

Doctor Ezell wore many hats during his lifetime. He graduated from Greenwood High School, class of 1981, and earned his B.S. from the U of A in 1986. After college, Scott spent 16 years building dreams at Bass Cat Boats. In 2002 Scott took a risk to chase a dream and went back to school full time; he graduated from UAMS with his M.D. in 2008. After his residency at SPARKS Hospital in Fort Smith, he and Dee returned to Mountain Home where he practiced medicine as a partner with North Central Arkansas Medical Associates until 2018, when he left his practice to travel with his wife and their dog, Kiya.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, October 7th, at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Mountain Home. Donations in his memory can be directed to Care Center Ministries or the Benevolence Fund at First Baptist Church.
Arrangements are under the care of Roller Funeral Home. Please visit our online guestbook at rollerfuneralhomes.com.

I was saddened when I ran across Scott's obituary. I had the privilege to work with him when he was a resident physician at Sparks. He was eager to learn and had the best intentions and deepest commitment as a new physician which made him an absolute joy to help train. He is gone way too soon. Sincere condolences to his family.

Dr. Ezell was so awesome! I met him when I was in the hospital. When I cried he told me jokes to help me feel better. He worked at my Dr.s office. He always made me laugh and made my day! I think I made him laugh before. My prayers are with his wife, his kids and his whole family!
It's so hard to lose a family member. I lost my Dad to cancer and it was hard for me to Iose him and I lost it. I was a Daddy's girl. At least Dr. Ezell is no longer suffering from pain.

There are not words to let y'all know how deeply Doc affected my life. He was my "assigned" physician when he first started his practice. What a wonderful man. He literally saved my life. I had to go to NCAMA 3 times a week, and I was in BRMC every 7-10 days for almost a year. I would look forward to hearing his bootsteps before 7 AM, as I knew he was coming to check on me so I could go back home. He was an amazing man and doctor. As I said, I was one of his first. He contacted my other doctor in Little Rock to see what he could do to help my treatment. They began a good work relationship, and she and he started referring patients to one another. I thank him for my life, and just wanted the family to know how much he was appreciated. Y'all are in my prayers, I can say no more.

I first met Scott while fishing the annual Basscat Owners tournaments. He was the lucky guy who got to marry Dee! I always enjoyed seeking him out to talk fishing, boats and careers. I was amazed when he decided to start med school at age 39. I thought how impressive that was and how he would bless people with his personal traits once he became a doctor. Years later I was at one of the tournament and became terribly sick. Being from out of town I had nowhere else to turn and Dee took me to his clinic and let me in the back door and I think it was after quitting time. Scott came in to see me and he and his nurses did an incredible job taking care of me. I could tell how much the nurses and staff respected him and the things they said about him were heartwarming. He was the dream doctor! In fact, I was planning to retire in Arkansas and I told my wife that we really needed to consider Mountain Home just so Scott can be my doctor! It is so tough to lose such a wonderful person.

Dee, I have hurt for you and your family and thought of you all often the past couple of years as he dealt with cancer. You and you family are in my prayers and I think the Lord for the wonderful man that Scott was to so many. Hugs to you all.

I just happened upon Scott’s obituary in today’s paper. I was blessed to read how God used his life in so many areas. You can see the man he was in those gentle and caring eyes but mostly in the many wonderful comments left by patients, co- workers, other doctor and friends. I remember him as a little boy with his sweet sister,Pam. I can tell he ended up being a blessing to so many just as the two of you have always been. Your example of compassionate Christianity and a loving marriage were a blessing to me way back when. Love and prayers of comfort to you both!

I met Dr. Ezell at a rough period in my life; I had just been diagnosed with Colon cancer and I was frightened and confused. I also had pain throbbing through my arm, and was certain that the cancer had already spread throughout my body. I was pretty upset. He let me spew out my fears for a minute or two, then he surprised me by laughing at me. At first I was indignant with him, but his laughter broke through the tension in the room and I finally stopped babbling. He took x-rays of my arm and assured me that it was just bruised, then he sat down with my husband and I and discussed options for dealing with the cancer. I've often thought of the irony that he was most likely suffering from his own cancer at the time, but it was before he knew he had cancer. I wish I had had the opportunity to have had him as my doctor for a longer period, but I'm really glad he took the time to spend with his family. His impact on my life was quite brief, but his influence continues to provide comfort when medical issues seem to get the upper hand. God Bless the Ezell family.

He was such a joy to call on as a pharmaceutical rep and one I always looked forward to seeing. I arranged my schedule so I wouldn’t miss visiting with him. What a blessing for all of you to have had such a great man in your lives. He was special and will be greatly missed. All of you have been and will continue to be in my prayers.

Dr. Ezell will be missed by many people. He was loved by many people. I have seen grown men cry, not to mention women crying when they talk about Dr. Ezell and how much he meant to them. It has been my honor to know him and his family. You all in our thoughts and prayers.

This was far too soon to lose such a good physician and such an obviously good man & loved member of this community. To his family & loved ones, I'm so sorry for your loss- he left some big shoes to fill. I only knew him as my doctor for a while, & I still smile remembering his surprised reaction the day he discovered me as I was sharing a few of my pets @ the GFS Wildlife Expo one summer. It still seems like yesterday.

Dee, Jordan, and Cole,
I am so sorry to hear of Scott’s passing. I always admired him for going to medical school later in life and coming back to serve his community. He was a very loved and respected physician and his passing is a big loss for Mountain Home.
