I am so sorry for your loss and another huge loss to this community. I never had her as a teacher, but never remember not knowing her. I have had friends that had her as a teacher and their respect for her was over the top. She went above and beyond the call of duty, when it came to students. There were plenty who could have "slipped thru the cracks", but Pat Balentine reached down and pulled them back up. To this day, those people still sing praises about her. She was teaching college courses in the summers to give us extra credits for college. Helping to build a better community and give us kids the help we needed to go on to college. She was simply amazing. Always the same every time you saw her. Her big smile and happy personality will always be an inspiration to us all. She touched lives of kids that she didn't even have as a student, just by her example she lived. Awesome lady. I am Blessed to have known such an amazing lady.
Mrs. Balentine is one of those teachers that leaves a lasting impression on her students. She was also a wonderful, sincere lady whom I adored. Much love and prayers to the family.
Pat. You'll be missed I remer going church their. When my Dad Paul Scott preached I love y'all very much great friends always
Kim, Cindy and Family
We were so sorry for your loss. Pat and I are first cousins - her mom and my mom were sisters. We will never forget the great times we shared with her
and her family when we were growing up. She seemed more like a sister to
us than a cousin. She would visit us in Melbourne ever summer, where she
and my sister Donna Jo would attend the singing and piano lessons in Brockwell.
She will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved her.

Kim, After hearing from you how wonderful your mom was and now reading her obit, I understand how much she gave to others through her teaching and music. You were lucky to be raised in such a loving home. My heart hurts for you and your loss.

Dear cousins just a little reminder that you are in God's care and my prayers as you deal with the loss of yet another loved one. Pat has now joined many family members and friends on that heavenly shore in singing praises to our loving savior.
As we celebrate cousin Pat's life by remembering her kind heart, work hard ethics, and all the memories she has given each of us, may God's undying love and the fact that she now rest peacefully with God help you find comfort and peace as you grieve.
I am so sorry for your loss. Pat was an amazing teacher, and a beautiful person. My thoughts and prayers are with your family. May God bless and comfort you.
Pat Balentine was a beautiful person inside and out. I've always known her because we are cousins, but we became friends, travelling buddies when she began teaching at MVHS in late 1980s. Pat never said an unkind word about anyone. She was an excellent teacher, both fair and compassionate. She was a Christian dedicated to her faith and to her church where she was pianist for over 60 years. But she was a wife and mother first. She and R.L. had four children, the boy stillborn, a daughter lost in a car accident, and two daughters dedicated to their parents. The close-knit family had its share of heartache but also much joy from each other and their friends. Pat was fun-loving and full of ideas. She was creative, writing poems daily for family and for self, however the moment struck. She enjoyed teaching, writing skits for church, and later her job as a waitress. She loved to share stories about her family, especially her dad, and of growing up in the Mt. Joy area. As R.L.'s health deteriorated so did hers. She always told him not to worry she would live at least "one day longer than he." Never "bigger than a minute" she kept her word. She left us peacefully surrounded by those who loved her most. I am thankful this cousin of mine became my dear friend. I will miss her always.
