Mildred "Pat" Edith Balentine

of Mountain View, AR

April 26, 1937 - November 14, 2020

Pat Balentine passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, November 14, 2020 surrounded by her family who loved and adored her. Pat was born on April 26, 1937, to Tom and Retha (Cross) Burns, at home in Mountain View, Arkansas. Pat was a devoted member of Fifty Six Missionary Baptist Church and faithfully played the piano for the choir for sixty five years. She was an English teacher for twenty nine years and will be remembered for her devotion to helping students achieve and succeed and for her feisty, spunky spirit.

Pat was known for her God-given talent for writing poetry and stories, her beautiful ability to play the piano and sing hymns, her love for birds especially cardinals, her intelligence and ability to recall trivia, her yard of multi colored flowers, her ability to walk faster than a speed racer, her great sense of humor, and her love of pulling antics with her many friends.

Pat is survived by her two daughters, Kim Karrels (Ed) and Cindy Branscum (Keith); son-in-law, Eddie Morgan; sister, Frances Gammill; nephew, Terry Ward; sister-in-law, Betty Ward; nieces, Denise Storey, Dayne Trammell, and Kristy Ward-Ivy; grandchildren, Kasie Cox (Donny) and Hunter Branscum (Candace); great-grandchildren, Brylie and Colt Cox and Kolter and Kasen Branscum.
Pat was preceded in death by her parents, Tom and Retha (Cross) Burns; nephew, Ronnie Brightwell; infant son, Bobby Balentine; daughter, Debbie (Balentine) Morgan; and husband, RL Balentine.
Pat will be remembered for being a devoted friend, a dedicated and caring teacher, a faithful servant to God, and a loving wife, mama and grandma to a family who cherished her. Her legacy of love will live on through her family and those who knew her.

Visitation for Pat will take place on Monday, November 16, 2020 from 10:00-11:00 AM at Fifty Six Missionary Baptist Church in Fifty Six, Arkansas. Funeral services will follow the visitation beginning at 11:00 AM with Brothers Robb Arnold and David Campbell officiating. Pat will be laid to rest at Fifty Six Cemetery in Fifty Six, Arkansas.

Pallbearers are Hunter Branscum, Keith Branscum, Donny Cox, Ed Karrels, Eddie Morgan, and Terry Ward. Honorary pallbearers are RC Alexander, Ronnie Anderson, Jr. Lee Deatherage, Harold Lancaster, and Kenneth Sutton.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in honor of Micah Martin, PO Box 1893, Memphis, Tennessee 38101-9950.
