He was a carpenter, a drywall hanger, a farmer, a hunter and a breeder of dogs. His home was always open and the coffee pot going for anyone who wanted to drop by for a visit. He loved spending time with friends and family and spinning a tall tale from time to time. John enjoyed good food. But even more he enjoyed cooking and watching others enjoy his meals. His food, his stories, his creativity and his love will be greatly missed.

John is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Mary Jean; and siblings, Hulen, Roy, Melvin, Lorene, Evaline and Imogene.

Survivors include his daughters, Amy Lynne Henry and Mary Ann Powers; granddaughters, Amanda, Sarah, Emily and Molly; great-grandchildren, Logan, Jaycee, Owen, Sophia, Lily, Kynzee, Maggie, Jackson and Tucker; and siblings, Betty Rorie and Lois Rose.
