Calvin Richey, 52, of Strawberry died, Monday, June 8, 2009. He was born in Chicago, Illinois on July 14, 1956 and was the son of James Maynard Richey and Bernice Kennedy Richey. He graduated from Strawberry High School in 1974, was a member of the Church of Christ at Strawberry, and was a self-employed truck driver. His parents instilled in him to always tell the truth which helped make him the honest man that he was. Even though he was stubborn and sometimes a pest, he was a hard worker and had a huge heart. He loved to ride motorcycles and horses and listen to 60's music. His children, grandchildren and family was his first priority and he loved being with them.
He is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Brandi and Will Shilts of Cabot and Haley and David Ward of Benton; three grandchildren, Landon Shilts, Zander Shilts and Aiden Ward; his parents, Maynard & Bernice Richey of Strawberry; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Cindy and Jerry Wayne Morgan of Lynn and Marilee and Mark House of Batesville; and one brother, Ellis Richey of Hackett. Other survivors include several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents: Clay and Sybil Richey and maternal grandparents: A. P. and Lena Kennedy.
Funeral services will be Thursday, June 11 at 7:00 p.m. at the Strawberry Church of Christ under the direction of Roller-Crouch Funeral Home of Batesville. Steve Norris and Kennard Ward will be officiating.
The family will receive friends at the church from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
A private family burial will be held at a later date.

We, the girls at the Strawberry Bank, will miss Calvin deeply. We always knew when Calvin came back into town, as he would honk as he drove his truck past the bank. While he was home, he would ride his motorcycle up to the bank and come in to visit. Sometimes, he would do more visiting than banking. We all enjoyed his big smile, hugs, and jokes.
