Velma Lee Harness, age 92 of Marshall, Arkansas passed from this life on Tuesday, September 15th, 2020 at Highland Court in Marshall, Arkansas. She was born in Timbo, Arkansas on September 20th, 1927 to Austin Broyles and Annabelle Smith Broyles.
She worked at Flintrock Shirt Factory for several years. She and husband, Lester ran the Harness Grocery Store in Landis for a long time. She was a strong, hardworking woman who meant the world to her family. She will be greatly missed.
Velma was preceded in death by her parents, Austin and Annabelle Broyles; her husband, Lester Harness; and one brother, Dale Broyles.
Survivors include her son, Gwen Charles Harness of Marshall; her daughter, Charlotte Smith and husband Don of Harrison; grandsons, Charles Harness and wife Markette of St. Joe, Clint Harness of Marshall and Cody Pulliam and wife Brooke of Harrison; great-grandchildren, Jaspen, Jacey, Jack and Gracey; niece, Imalee Riggins; and many other family and friends who will mourn her passing.
Private family graveside services for Velma will be 2:00 PM Wednesday, September 16th, 2020 at East Lawn Cemetery in Marshall, Arkansas with Bro. Randy Crumley officiating.
Burial will follow the service where Velma will be laid to rest beside her husband, Lester Carmon Harness.
Due to the Covid-19 pandemic we are practicing social distancing at our graveside services and all patrons are required to wear a mask.
