of Batesville, AR

July 20, 1921 - July 28, 2020

Clarence Tucker, 99, of Batesville passed away Tuesday, July 28, 2020.

He was born in Rosie, Arkansas on Wednesday, July 20, 1921 to Robert "Rob" Tucker and Bessie (Stewart) Tucker.

Clarence was a graduate of Oil Trough High School and served his country in the United States Coast Guard from 1942 until 1946 as a radio operator. After World War II, he continued his education at Business College in Little Rock, Arkansas. He received his Master's Degree from Ole' Miss in 1941. Clarence worked for many years in the business department of Cities Service Oil Company in Shreveport, Louisiana.

After leaving Cities Service Oil Company he taught business courses at colleges in Chattanooga, Tennessee, and Williams Baptist College in Walnut Ridge, Arkansas. Upon retirement, he returned to Oil Trough, Arkansas where he has lived for many years.

Clarence was a very quiet and reserved man who greatly valued his privacy. He was a man who loved God. He was very zealous about his faith in God and firm in his belief about what it meant to be a Christian. He spent many hours reading the Bible and religious literature of all kinds and never compromised his convictions.

He loved family reunions. He loved the peace and quiet of living in a small town like Oil Trough. He loved stories and songs about the old west and traveled several times to the western states to visit landmarks from the days of the Old West. He loved to read and had a huge library of books in his home

Clarence was a song writer and submitted several of his songs to companies in Nashville hoping for them to be recorded by one of his favorite county artists.

A quiet man who lived his life in the manner he chose...He lived life His way. He is survived by a brother, Mack Tucker (Linda) of Bella Vista, Arkansas, and a host of nieces and nephews.

Clarence is preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, Morris Tucker, Earnest Tucker, Bob Euin Tucker, Gerald Tucker, Bobby Tucker; and one sister, Nadine Tucker Burge.
