Irene Virginia Patton,85, left this earth Saturday, July 4, 2020, after a long battle with Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma. Irene was born February 9, 1935, in Kansas City, Kansas to John Shofe and Irene Benton Shofe. She was preceded in death by daughter Kathy Cooper, sister Mary Lee Wasinger, brother in law Bob Wasinger, brother John Shofe and sister in law Elsa Shofe, half-brothers Charles, Fred, and "Choppy . Brothers-in-law Layne and Wayne Patton, mother and father-in-law Onus and Lola Lee-Patton, sisters-in-law Shirley Downs and Lena Neilson, infant grandson Wester, and son-in-law Wesley Wester. She was a member of The First Baptist Church of Harrison, Arkansas. She belonged to The Harrison Red Hat Society and the Harrison Christian Women's Club.

She is survived by her husband of 38 years, O'Dean Patton. They divorced in 1992 and spent their later years together supporting each other through the good and bad times. She is also survived by her daughter/significant other Pamela Wester and Danny Morrison, granddaughters/husband/fiancé Laura Cooper, Lacey Kleeman, Greg Kleeman, Carly Tomlins, and Nick Liston, son-in-Law Gary Cooper; sisters-in-Law Donna Boyd Patton and Donna Ammerman Patton, great-grandsons Stephen and Levi Tomlins, and step-grandsons Domonick Liston, Braxton and Laken Kleeman, step-granddaughter Savana Kleeman and a multitude of nieces and nephews.

She studied Accounting at Wichita Busines College and North Arkansas Junior College. She worked as an Administrative Assistant for Boeing Aircraft of Wichita KS as a young woman. Later worked as a partner for Stone Mill and Lumber Company of Harmon, AR for 40 years. She helped daughter Kathy Cooper with The Jewel Shop and for a short period of time owned Fashion Crossroads of Harrison Arkansas. Her favorite memories were always her time as a Sunday and Vacation Bible School teacher at Olvey Church of Harmon Arkansas. Irene was a loving mother, grandmother, aunt, and maintained long friendships. No matter how sick she felt she always persevered through with her hobbies of incredible quilting and beautiful watercolor paintings. She never met a stranger and always had a kind word to say.

She always quoted her favorite bible verse "Be Still and Know that I am God". Psalm 46:10.


Visitation was Saturday, July 11, 2020, at 11 am at Roller-Christeson Funeral Home, Harrison Arkansas officiated by Timothy Bartlow.

Burial will follow at Patton Cemetery.
