Imo Jean Haile

of Little Rock, AR

October 9, 1929 - June 21, 2020

Imo Jean Haile, born October 9, 1929, died Sunday, June 21, 2020. A native of Little Rock, she was the daughter of D.A. & Iva Bradley.
She grew up off Hayes Street, "the end of the trolley line" in Little Rock. The last of seven siblings, she lived nine decades celebrating her 90th birthday last October where she enjoyed being celebrated and surrounded by her loved ones.

Life during the depression was difficult for the Bradley family. Leaving school at 14, she began work to help support the family. During the war, she worked as a Telephone Operator.

Jean worked a variety of jobs throughout her life but her main occupation was in sales and later in retail management with women's fashion. She managed Casual Corner at Park Plaza until 1970.

Widowed twice already, she married Sgt. Harry P. Haile, a U.S. Army Recruiter stationed in Little Rock in 1972. They were transferred to Ft. Hood, Texas that same year. This marriage of 30 years provided her with opportunities to travel and see the world. Stationed in Stuttgart, Germany for three years, Jean and Harry were able to see Europe. After retirement, they lived in Little Rock and in Texas. Having a love of travel, they still traveled throughout the United States for many years. When Harry passed in 2002, Jean returned to Little Rock. She was an auxiliary member at St. Vincent Infirmary for 10 years. She enjoyed many hobbies, including crocheting and gardening. Jean was a member of Military Road Baptist Church in Jacksonville, Arkansas.

Jean was preceded in death by her husband, Harry P. Haile, and her parents, D.A. & Iva Bradley, sister Charlsey Matthews, brothers Glenn, Donald, Doyne, Kenneth, and Beryl.

Survivors include five children, Wayne Norwood & wife Karen of Tennessee; Dick Norwood & wife Kathy of Hot Springs; Connie Rhoades & husband Bernard of North Little Rock; Lynn Fullerton & husband Kenny of Waller, Texas; and Janet Carlton & husband Rodney of Copperas Cove, Texas. She has nine grandchildren: Jeff, Jenni, Jason, Brad, Tasha, Lisa, Kimberly, Drew, & Wesly. She also has 14 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

A private family graveside service is planned for Wednesday, June 24th at Oakland Cemetery in Little Rock.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made in honor of Mrs. Jean Haile to:

Goodbye Jean Haile. Thank you for always welcoming me into your home. I learned a lot from you. I am happy knowing you are made whole again and dancing up a storm with Harry P. Haile! I will never see a hummingbird without thinking of you! I’ll do my best to “keep Janet Kay in line” as you always tasked me to do (without much luck) Auf wiedersehen!❤️
