of North Little Rock, AR
June 9, 1931 - June 6, 2020
Mary Louise Petter, 88, of North Little Rock, Arkansas passed away on June 6, 2020. She was born on June 9, 1931 to the late Thomas and Ernestine Christie in Brownsville, Tennessee.
"On angels wings you were taken away, but in our hearts, you will always stay"
Mary was the Rock of our Family and she held everything together. Always doing for others. She was quite the adventurer in many ways. She had her Pilots License, enjoyed traveling, parasailing and riding the Triumph 650 with our Dad.
She spoke often about what a wonderful childhood she had growing up in the country in Brownville, Tennessee.
She moved to Memphis and worked at Sears and the Peabody Hotel and there she met Dad. They had been married almost 60 years. Here in Arkansas, she worked for H&R Block and was the Director for Learning Center for several years.
She loved children, her family, friends and her pets. She will be missed dearly by everyone that knew her. She was one of a kind.
Christmas was her favorite holiday. She would decorate in detail each room with lights and all her many Christmas decorations, it was something to see!
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Alvin Petter, Jr.; brother, C.T. Christie; and sister, Billie Jean Temple.
Survivors include her children, Christie Hunter, Elaine Petter, Lisa Dooley and Alvin Petter III; 9 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, June 10, 2020 at Roller-Owens Funeral Home, 5509 JFK Blvd in North Little Rock, Arkansas, with burial to follow at Rest Hills Memorial Park. A visitation will be held prior to the service beginning at 1:00 PM at the funeral home.
We are complying with the Arkansas Department of Health guidelines and limiting indoor funeral and visitation attendance to 50 people at one time. All attendees must provide and wear their own masks before entering.
I've had the pleasure to have known Mrs. Petter since the early 1970's. She was always so kind to me over the years. I remember spending New Years Eve at her home many times...good memories that I cherish.
Prayers of comfort to Christie, Elaine, Lisa and Alvin.
She will be missed.
