Harold Eugene Cooper, 75, of Jonesboro, passed away Monday, June 1, 2020 at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House. He was born February 19, 1944 in Jonesboro to James and Azalee (Gott) Cooper.
He served in the US Army during the Vietnam War. Gene retired from the Southern Pacific Railroad and was of the Baptist faith. Gene was preceded in death by his father.
Gene leaves behind to cherish his memory, his loving wife of 40 years, Shirley (Walker) Cooper; his mother, Azalee Cooper; two daughters, Monica Gipson and Kelly Costner; four grandchildren, Mallory (Jonathan) Page, Josh (Trisha) Gipson, Madelynne Pressly and Maddox Cooper Costner; and a brother, Jimmy (Florence) Cooper.
Graveside services will be 10 am Thursday at Philadelphia Cemetery with Raymond Atwood officiating.
Josh Gipson, Jonathan Page, Bill Pressly, Tim McCall and Rick Cooper will serve as Pallbearers.
Arrangements are under the direction of Roller-Farmers Union Funeral Home of Jonesboro.
I was friends with Gene back. In the 60’s
He was driving a red GTO.
We lost track with other somewhere along the line.
We drove Nettleton Ave and Jack’s drive inn.
He was such a nice guy always had a neat smile, it sure burdens my heart to learn of his passing.
I which we had spent more time together.
He was ver popular on the strip and had a lot of friends..
