James William Canard

of Batesville, AR

April 4, 1975 - May 28, 2020

James William Canard was born April 4, 1975 in Newport, Arkansas. He passed away on May 28, 2020 at his home. He married the love of his life, Stefanie, on May 25, 2002. James loved his family.

James had a fondness for flea markets, yard sales, and antique shops, always looking for that good deal on a piece of furniture or rare piece of glass. He enjoyed sports and loved the Razorbacks. He enjoyed basketball the most and had an extensive basketball collection to prove it. His favorite place to go was the beach to hunt for seashells. He collected many different ones and had a large collection of them.

James enjoyed his 22 years working at Wal-Mart. He liked helping people and talking to them. He loved his fellow Wal-Mart employees and made lifelong friends that he kept in touch with.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Christeen Morrison; maternal uncle, James Larry Mallory; Nephew, Michael Cook; and cousin, Dustin Fields.

He is survived by his wife, Stefanie Canard and his son, James Austin Canard of the home; his two dogs, Lily and Jasmine; his mother, Ann Simpson and husband Kirby of Tupelo; his mother-in-law, Renee Seaman of Batesville; his grandmother-in-law, Lou St. John; one brother, Melvin Canard and wife Monica of Searcy; two sisters, Joyce Coffey and husband Thurman of Trumann, and Sandy Caldwell and husband Chris of Batesville; one brother-in-law, Adam Darnell and wife, Emily of Pleasant Plains; two uncles, William (Jabo) Morgan and wife, Judy of McCroy, and Hershel Jackson and wife Melissa of McCroy; three aunts, Carolyn Gillian and husband, Jimmie of Pumpkin Bend, Mary Vinson of Batesville, and Debbie Fields and husband, Mark of McCroy; four nephews, Dewayne Cook, Travis Canard and wife, Jade, Heath Darnell, and Josiah Darnell; four nieces, Tiffany Watson, Morgan Cook, Angel Darnell, and Zoe Darnell; two cousins, Stephen Fields and wife, Whitney, and Amy Hodges; six great-nephews, and two great-nieces.

Pallbearers are Hershel Jackson, Melvin Canard, Chris Caldwell, Thurman Coffey, Stephen Fields, and Adam Darnell. Honorary pallbearers are Ryan Keirn and Jerry Lindsey.

Visitations will be from 2:00pm until 4:00pm Sunday, May 31, 2020 at the Roller-Crouch Funeral Home.

There will be a graveside service at 1:00pm on Monday, June 1, 2020 at White Lake Cemetery in Tupelo, Arkansas with Glen McKay and Donald McGee officiating.
We are complying with the Arkansas Department of Health guidelines and limiting indoor funeral and visitation attendance to 50 people at one time. All attendees must provide and wear their own masks before entering.

I worked at Wal- Mart for 21 years & although I'm not there anymore I consider some of the associates friends for life.James was one of those. He by far had one of the best personalities & could make you laugh real easy.I know his son & his wife & I'm sure the rest of the family were his life! He was so proud of his son! I'm sure that he knows just how much he loved him. Stefanie has always been so friendly too. I remember when she worked at WM. I believe they met there. What a neat thing. Just know that he was truly loved by so many & he is well now...no more cancer!

I worked with James for a short year and a half. I was so sad to hear of his health and shocked to hear of his passing. I didn't know him on a personal level but his character showed each and every day to be a hard worker and a man of integrity. I know he will be truly missed. Prayers for peace and comfort for all who this loss effects.

James was married to my neice Stefanie and was definitely a huge part of our Family and will be missed tremendously. He was one of the kindest and sweetest person you will ever meet. He was always one of the first to be there for my Mother when ever she needed help and she considered him just as much a Grandson as her own. We never had to worry about Stefanie because he was the best husband ever. He
will always be in our hearts 💜💜

I will truly miss James. He got diagnosed shortly after my wife was diagnosed with breast cancer, and instead of asking about her or complaining about his pains, he would always ask how I was doing. He was truly not just a great man, but a darn good person overall. Any time I needed help or information, or just a good laugh, all I had to do was talk to him for a minute. Miss you and love ya buddy!
