February 29, 1944 - May 22, 2020

Frank L. Martin, 76 of West Memphis, Arkansas passed away on Friday, May 22, 2020.

He was born on February 29, 1944 in Kansas City, Missouri.

He is preceded in death by his parents Thelma & Radford Martin.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 51 years Kay Martin, his daughter Pam McClanahan (Jeff) of West Memphis, his son Thomas Martin (Sherry) of Marion, his grandchildren Kennedy McClanahan, Abbie Martin and Caleb Martin, and his brother Andy Martin (Lisa) of Collierville.

Frank was a lifelong member of Holy Cross Episcopal Church, serving as an acolyte in his youth to Senior Warden most recently.

Frank loved God, his family, the Memphis Tigers, his West Memphis Blue Devils and the City of West Memphis. Frank's admiration for his hometown began at an early age. He was the first paper carrier for the Evening Times and subsequently served 22 years in City Administration.

I miss my good friend. Frank and I shared a long friendship of more than 64 years. He and I also experienced many "first adventures" together. We were the first two kids hired to deliver the EVENING TIMES and we took our first airplane ride together at a location then called Johnson's Field in West Memphis. I know that God is watching over you Frank and that Alvin Haase was waiting to say hello on your arrival in Heaven.

I am going to miss Mr. Martin at the Blue Devils football game. Row 16 in the reserved seating. I was on row 15 and he sat directly behind me. We became football fans friends. He was dedicated in singing the blue devil alma mater and did not miss a beat with it. If I didn't make it before the alma mater, he would always tap me on the shoulder and say "you late". My prayers will be with the family.

Mr. Martin was like a second father to me growing up and was a great example of what it meant to be a man of faith, morals, commitment, and service. I am confident that he has received a crown of righteousness in heaven. Many thoughts and prayers for Mrs. Martin, Tommy, and Pam.
