Dwight Shipman, age 87, of Bruno, Arkansas died Wednesday April 1, 2020 at Baxter Regional Medical Center.

Born on December 10, 1932 to Nora (Davis) Shipman and Loy Shipman. He was brought into this world inside a log cabin and delivered by a midwife. He married his ''Grand Lady'' Ora Mae (Baker) Shipman on October 5, 1954. He graduated in 1952 from Yellville High School. He served as President of his class and also President of FFA. After graduating he served in the 82nd Airborne of the United States Army during the Korean conflict, where he made 13 jumps.

Upon leaving the service he came back home to his beloved farm. He served as County Treasurer for 8 years. He was then employed by Farm Bureau Insurance Company as Agency Manager for 25 years.

His retirement years were full of great adventures. Being a full time farmer was his greatest passion. He spent countless hours tending to his cattle. He loved growing gardens with his brother Billy Joe and sister Rose Nell. They grew enough watermelons to share with the entire community.

He was a member of the Yellville Church of Christ where he served as an elder. He loved his church family very much.

He is survived by his children: Neta (Vic) Rowell of Greenbrier, Daniel Shipman of Bruno, Amanda (Jesse) Ellison of Greenbrier; two sisters: Rose Nell Beach of Bruno; Mary Sue Swayne of Cabot,; his sister-in-law Lois Shipman of Texas; his grandchildren: Angela Painter, Amy Grissum, Wendy Janski, Brock Rowell, Alicia Shaw, Rachel Stumbaugh, Elizabeth Noland; great-grandchildren: Carlie Williams, Kyle Grissum, Kevin Grissum, Kaycee Tucker, Charles Grissum, Colt Painter, Ethan Janski, Harrison Janski, Brodie Janski, Sawyer Rowell, Caroline Rowell, Amelia Noland, Danielle Stumbaugh; great-great-grandchildren: Jordan Williams, and Jaycee Williams.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 59 years, Ora Mae Shipman; a beloved daughter Veta Tetrick, and grandson Isaiah Shipman; his siblings Verl Shipman, Leon Shipman, Ray Shipman, Vance Shipman, Zell Shipman, Billy Joe Shipman, Betty June Shipman, and Kenneth Shipman.

In lieu of flowers contributions can be made in his honor to Yellville Church of Christ or Freck Cemetery.

To Danny and all of your family,

I echo Val's sentiments with thoughts of your Dad leading us 'kids' in Bible study in the Freck Church of Christ basement. Truly a gracious and gentle-man with eyes always bright. Grace and I are praying that the love of friends, of the Saints, and the ever-present presence of Christ's Spirit will be your comfort beyond all explanation!

With much love in Him,

Pete and Grace Holland

I am thankful for the many sweet memories I have from attending church and gardening at the church with Dwight. My condolences to the family in this especially difficult time when loved ones and friends are unable to visit and hug and cry together as we would like to do. Love and prayers to you all.

So sad to hear about Mr. Shipman’s passing. He was a kind and generous man. I knew him and Mrs Ora as a child....and he was our agent at Farm Bureau for many years. Both were always the sweetest people. He will be missed by everyone that knew him. Condolences to all his family. You will all be in my prayers.
