James W. Wheat, 84, of North Little Rock, passed away surrounded by his family, Friday, February 28, 2020. He was born on April 11, 1935 in Prescott to the late Garland and Gladys Kirk Wheat. James is also preceded in death by his wife, Charlene Elizabeth Wheat; two grandsons, Jason Bobbitt and Austin Ussery; two son-in-laws, Bill Dixon and Rodney Ussery; and brother, Jimmy Joe Wheat.

James loved the outdoors; which included hunting, fishing, and gardening. He was in construction for over 25 years and chances are you have driven on over one of the bridges he helped build. He was a 32nd degree Mason.

James is survived by four daughters: Patricia Diane Dixon, Connie Sue Pruss (David), Tina Gale Ussery, and Jamie Rana Wheat all of North Little Rock; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Roller-Owens Funeral Home.

I owe James thanks for all the help over the years. I grew up with James and Charlene with the girls, Diane, Connie, Tina and Jamie from a young age. I have good memories of those days, and James taught me so much.

Larry and I want to let all of you know how sorry we are for the loss of your father. Please know how much we respected James, Larry thought of him as one of the hardest working man he has ever know. He loved his family, they are his pride and joy. Wanted to let know how much we love each and everyone of you. Tina, Connie, Trish and Jamie praying that the wonderful memories and the love you all shared give each of you comfort.
