I met Thelma when I was 16 years old and she worked in the Collectors Office and I worked for C&S Closing Company and I had to go pay taxes on real estate closings. She was always so nice to me. When I started dating Harry Smith, apparently he was one of her pups. She just loved him. I remember when we got engaged she was so happy for us and just thought my ring was gorgeous.
Over the years I heard lots of stories that Harry and she shared. They had a lot of fun together and it was obvious a deep love for one another. He truly was one of her pups.
When he got hired with the State Police we had to move to Siloam Springs for 8 years, but when we finally moved back, either she was already a dispatcher when we got here or she started shortly thereafter. I know how she was sure to keep up with her Troopers and knew where they were. She was a great dispatcher, and they all loved her. You couldn’t help but love Thelma. She always had a smile on her face and a kind word. She loved our children as well.
I know she is flying high with the angels. That being said,, those that are left behind, both blood and blue, are heartbroken. I hope Thelma knee how much she was loved and the impact she had on those who weren’t her blood, but, her “pups. She helped mold many of them and they always respect heir dispatchers because they knew how important that job was and how serious she was about it. She set the bar high! Praying for comfort and strength for everyone in the days to come. Thank you, Thelma. You have left quite a legacy.
Condolences to the family. Such a wonderful lady. May our Lord comfort you in this time of loss.
