She was born on November 18, 1926 in Paris, Texas; the daughter of Frank Russell Ortlip and Mella Belle Ortlip Terrell. Carol married Frank Edward Burk on April 2, 1947 in Norman, Oklahoma. They were married for 62 years before Frank died and were a model of love and devotion to all that knew them.

When she was young, Carol lived in Dallas, Texas and Eureka Springs, Arkansas. She graduated from Idabel High School in Idabel, Oklahoma. She went to the University of Oklahoma before her marriage to Frank. Her husband was a career Army officer, so as his wife she traveled all over the world including living in Japan and Germany. She was a devoted wife and the mother of ''4 children all born within 6 years of one another.'' She loved unconditionally, laughed often, explained things simply and accepted others fully. Her favorite hobby was bridge and she taught many to play the game when she lived in Fayetteville Arkansas. After retirement, she and Frank moved back to Oklahoma and settled in Hugo for nearly 20 years. While there, they attended church at Victory Life of Hugo and volunteered their services in many areas. Carol is preceded in death by her husband, Frank Edward Burk, her parents, and one sister, Mella Belle Ponce.

She is survived by her sister, Cecile Cowling; two sons and daughters-in-law: Joseph and Mindy Burk of Frisco, Texas, James and Mary Lou Burk of Mansfield, Texas; two daughters and sons-in- law: Linda and Kenneth Bevis of Gardendale, Alabama, and Diane and Michael Hefner of Benton, Arkansas; ten grandchildren: Michelle Hardman, Carlee Hilger, Jody Melton, Denise Credeur, David Burk, Jeffory Burk, Ryan Burk, Aaron Hefner, Marcie Watkinson, and Ben Hefner; 36 great grandchildren; and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
