Larry Dean Gammill

of Timbo, AR

March 23, 1948 - February 10, 2020

Larry Dean Gammill, 71, passed away at home in Timbo, Arkansas on February 10, 2020. Larry was born on March 23, 1948 at Fairview, Arkansas to the late Carbin and Lillie (Balentine) Gammill. Larry was a farmer and worked several years hauling sawdust, operating a backhoe and bull dozer. He enjoyed fishing, camping, and hunting, but mostly he loved being in politics. He could spin a yarn with the best of them. He enjoyed making deals, telling tall tales, and pulling pranks. He served on the Timbo School Board for 5 years. He also served as Justice of the Peace for Stone County District #2 for 22 years, and on the 12 member governing board of Little Rock for 12 years. He loved serving the people, and he never met a stranger. The main loves of his life were his family, his children, and grandchildren. He was proud of each one of them.

Larry is survived by his wife Sylvia (Cowell) Gammill with whom he spent the last 50 years; one daughter Ladeanna and husband Shawn Strutton of Timbo, Arkansas; daughters-in-law, Carrie Gammill of Timbo, Arkansas and Jennifer Gammill of Little Rock, Arkansas; six grandchildren, Samaya Strutton of Fort Smith, Arkansas, Kamayka and husband Jacob Fry of Fayetteville, Arkansas, Jacob Strutton of Timbo, Arkansas, Kyler Gammill and Kolton Gammill of Timbo, Arkansas and Emily Gammill of Little Rock, Arkansas; one sister, Kim and husband Richard Morrison and their son Destin Morrison of Timbo, Arkansas; mother-in-law, Flora Cowell of Jonesboro, Arkansas; 33 nieces and nephews, and numerous family and friends.

Larry was preceded in death by his grandmother, Claudia Gammill; parents, Carbin and Lillie Gammill; in-laws, Vern and Mildred Cowell and his sons, Larry James Gammill and Dean Cleon Gammill.

Visitation is Tuesday, February 11, 2020 from 6:00-8:00 PM at Timbo Valley Assembly of God Church in Timbo, Arkansas. Funeral services are Wednesday, February 12, 2020, 10:00 AM at Timbo Valley Assembly of God Church in Timbo, Arkansas with Brothers David Campbell and Terry Morgan officiating. Interment will follow the service at Pordue Cemetery in Onia, Arkansas.

Pallbearers are Kyler Gammill, Jacob Strutton, Kolton Gammill, Larry Musick, Danny Farris, and Tony Passmore. Honorary pallbearers are Shawn Strutton, J.E. Webb, and Kenneth Powell.

My heart goes out to all Larry's Family. I have been his
sister-n-law for 50 years and this last year has to have been the hardest any family could bear.
I can't fathom losing a child and a husband or a brother and a dad within 37 days apart.
I pray for all Larry's immediate family as well has his extended ones.
Love your Sister and your Aunt.

Sylvia, Ladeanna, Carrie and families, we were so sorry to hear of Larry’s passing. I have fond memories of Larry and think the world of him and his family! He was a good man who was very giving in all he did. I will always remember him sitting at the end of the gym floor watching the kids play. Whether they were yours, ours, or theirs, he was yelling for and supporting the Tigers. We will all miss him, but know that he is in a much better place. Our thoughts and prayers go out to you. May God comfort and bless you all! We love you!
