Wood Crowley's Ridge Nature Center in Jonesboro named after him. He was presented with the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Sportfishing Association of America as well as the BASS Federation's Lifetime Achievement Award and the Arkansas Outdoor Hall of Fame Legacy Award. Known for his signature cowboy hat, Forrest could instantly light up a room with his warm, genuine smile and charismatic personality. He was a man of true integrity who always made time for people. He was hardworking, gentle and humble. He had a heart of gold and a quick wit that everyone enjoyed. He was eager to learn from others and always listened with interest. He saw potential in every person he met and was always supportive and encouraging. Above all, Forrest was a godly man who had accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior. Our deepest condolences to your family. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.
We love Forrest Wood because success never changed his core ideals of faith, family, friendships and his country roots. He changed forever his surrounding counties, Arkansas, the sport of fishing and the lives of thousands, but his heart remained genuine and his humility through it all remained admirable!
Mr. Wood relected every good thing about Arkansas, the state he so proudly represented. His genuine sincerity, interest in people, and love of Arkansas shone through in every smile. We were blessed to have known him and pray that his family will experience perfect peace now and in the months to come.

I met Forrest one time about four years ago at Allen's Grocery back in the deli. I had been turkey hunting so I had camouflage on. He just came up to me and started asking about how turkey hunting was in Marion County. Glad I had the opportunity to speak with a man I admired. May God bless and comfort the Wood family.

I am so sorry to hear about Forrest’s passing. He was a very kind man. Growing up in Flippin, I always knew of the Wood family and the impact they had on our community, but I had never met Mr. Wood until one day when I was delivering mail and I got a flat tire on my route. Mr. Wood and his wife were driving by and stopped to help out. They were so kind, and I will always hold that memory in my heart. My prayers are with Nina and her family.
It was always an honor and pleasure talking to Forrest. Never saw the man without a smile on his face. RIP

Thoughts and prayers go out to the Wood family. Not only did our community loose a great man, but the world lost a legend. Forrest will be greatly missed by all, I know I will miss seeing him on the streets of Flippin.
Forrest was a friend for over 30 years. We hunted and fished together - so many memories. We turkey hunted in Mexico, deer hunted in TX, elk hunted in UT and fished numerous lakes. We virtually talked to each other at every Classic where we chatted about years past. He enjoyed talking about his family, mules and cows. I feel like I grew up with his grandchildren. I only was able to watch him do his cowboy rope tricks one time - what a treat. He will truly be missed in the boating and fishing world. Our prayers go out to his immediate family and friends.Junie & Linda
Only a very small group of people in the world ever have that iconic work ethic and mentality to be extraordinaire. Forrest L. Wood was one of those who will be mentioned with the likes of Michael Jordon and Kevin VanDam. Forrest L. Wood was one of a kind and he touched so many lives in a positive way. Forrest may be gone, but Forrest L. Wood's Legacy will never be forgotten and the impact he had on the sport of Bass Fishing will always be remembered as EXTRAORDINAIRE!!!!!
He was a Giant among Giants......a gentle one.....rest in peace my friend.....
We, the people of Arkansas, lost a true Family Man, Statesman, Innovator, Entrepreneur, Conservationist and Advocate for the White River with the passing of Forrest Lee Wood.Over the 18+ years I've been here, I've been blessed to know Forrest and work with him on several projects regarding the White River system, and even get his take on life and hear firsthand his and Nina's story. He was truly an amazing man. Steve first met him and Nina nearly 40 years ago when he was fishing bass tournaments.Other than my own father and husband, I don't believe I've ever met a better man. Our lives in this community are forever changed because of him, and will never be quite the same without him.His Place Resort will be closed 1/29/2020 in his memory. I'll be too busy bawling my eyes out...
Forrest will be missed by all of us fortunate to have known him. Bob and I admired him so very much. I have many great memories of spending Sunday afternoons with all of you as a child. My prayers are with you during this most difficult time.

Nina and Family. The first time I met Mr.Forrest Wood, approximately 10 years ago, He stuck out his hand for a handshake and said call me Forrest. I've shook many hands in my time but this handshake was different. Every time we came in contact there was the HANDSHAKE. It was like he was glad to see me all over again and the feeling was so mutual. Ms. Nina, thanks for welcoming me the way you and Forrest did. The handshake was that of a man's man. I'll be lifting your family to The Throne of Grace, Love, and Comfort.
