Harold Ray Robertson (1934 - 2020)

''old soldiers never die; they just fade away.''

Harold Ray Robertson passed away January 15, 2020, at the age of 85. Harold was born on October 16, 1934, at Mt. Olive, Arkansas, to Houston and Bessie Robertson.
Harold grew up in a humble home in Calico Rock with his parents and sisters, Margie and Rose. He loved the hills, rivers and lakes of Arkansas.

Harold enjoyed listening to country and bluegrass music. He taught himself to play the mandolin and guitar. He would often play his mandolin or guitar in church while the congregation sang hymns.
Harold enlisted in the United States Army on March 31, 1954, and proudly served his country until his retirement on April 30, 1974, having attained the rank of 1st Sergeant. The Army took him across the world many times, having served in Korea, Okinawa, Vietnam and Thailand; his heart brought him home to Arkansas.

Harold was married to Shirley Dee (Smith) Robertson and they shared over 50 years of marriage. Together they raised six children, Teresa, Carol, David, Dale, Donna and Dedra. After Shirley's passing, he married Dolores Carter in 2009.
In addition to his parents, Harold was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Robertson, daughter, Teresa Driskill, daughter, Dedra Jackson, son, David Robertson, second wife, Dolores Robertson, and sister, Margie Bruning.

Harold is survived by his Army brats, Carol Moore, Dale Robertson (Paul Rigo), and Donna (Cary) Hansen. He is also survived by his daughter-in-law, Lynne Robertson; grandchildren, Lorrie, Nicole, Julie, Torrie, Brandie, Morgan, Samantha, Houston, Audra, Brittany and Kenny, and sixteen great-grandchildren, his sister Rose (Raymond) Crosby, and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation is scheduled for Friday, January 24, 2020, from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m., at Roller Funeral Home, Mountain Home. Funeral services will begin at 12:00P.M. with Jami Scott officiating. Interment will follow at Roselawn Cemetery, Calico Rock. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Legion; Paralyzed Veterans of America; the USO - Fort Leonard Wood, MO; or a Veterans service organization of the donor's choice.
