Toshiko (Tosh) S. Evans, age 95, passed away peacefully on January 16, 2020. She was born in Tokyo, Japan. Tosh graduated from the Women's Academy of Fine Arts (now known as the Joshibi University of Art and Design) in Tokyo. She married the late Edward James Evans, Sr., and came to the United States in 1951. She lived in the New Orleans area for 54 years.
In 2005, after Hurricane Katrina, Tosh moved to Little Rock, Arkansas, and lived with her daughter, Gale, and her husband. She was a parishioner of St. Edward the Confessor Catholic Church in Metairie, Louisiana, for 40 years and Christ the King Catholic Church in Little Rock since 2005.
Survivors include her son, Edward J. Evans, Jr., of Metairie, daughter Gale Evans Stimis (Greg), Little Rock, Arkansas, grandchildren Jennifer Smith (Chad), Covington, Louisiana, Michael A. Stimis (Amy), Bentonville, Robert G. Stimis (Rachael), Hanford, California, and Glenn Ryan Evans (Brandi), Metairie, great-grandchildren Sean, Brandon, Seth, Shelby, Kallista, Ryan, Brody, Ava, Grant, Cooper, and Hazel, and great-great-grandchildren Drew and Olivia.
There will be a rosary at 5:30 pm on Friday, February 7, and a memorial mass at 1:00 pm, Saturday, February 8, at Christ the King Church. She will be inurned at the Christ the King columbarium. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Monsignor Hebert Endowment Fund at Christ the King Catholic School.
Aunt Shiba, you will (& have been) be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing you! Much love and prayers for God's Grace to Eddie, Gale and family.
Tosh you will be in our hearts forever. You were loved by many and be missed by all. Your life was long and beautiful, your smile lit up any room you walked into. I loved you and will miss you. Love, Debbie
