Essa George Akel
February 26, 1981  -  January 9, 2020

Words cannot express the sorrow we feel as Essa George Akel, loving husband, brother and nephew/son, left us to be in his heavenly home on Thursday, January 9, 2020, at the age of 38. Essa was born on February 26, 1981 in North Little Rock, AR to George Essa Akel and Samia Akel Kassees. Essa was a dedicated parishioner of the Cathedral of St. Andrew where he was a parish council member and a devoted Fourth Degree member of the Knights of Columbus, Council #16947.

Essa had a passion for life and was always the life of the party. He had an affinity for gold jewelry and was an avid collector of Montblanc pens. He loved to learn about British Royal history and to cheer on the Razorbacks. Christmas was Essa's favorite holiday which was evident by the elaborate decorations in his home during that season. He was very proud of his family's lineage and culture. He cherished the time he spent with friends and loved his family fiercely. He never met a stranger, had the gift of making everyone feel like family and could bring a smile to your face and laughter to your heart. He had such a sweet, kind, thoughtful and giving heart and was loved by many. A part of our hearts will be missing until we are together again.

Essa leaves behind his love and wife, Lucinda Ruth; brother, Ishak Akel; aunts, Wisam Kassees (Anwar), and Magidah Akel Mnatzaganian (Art) and Hanan Akel (Nidal); father and mother-in-law. Mr. and Mrs. Larry Plumlee; many cousins, aunts and uncles.

Essa was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents, Essa and Knou Akel, and Ghanam and Nali Kassees; Uncle, Nidal Essa Akel.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 15, 2020 from 6-7PM with a Rosary beginning at 7PM at Roller-Owens Funeral Home in North Little Rock. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, January 16, 2020 at 10:00AM at the Cathedral of St. Andrew in Little Rock with burial to follow at Rest Hills Memorial Park.
