Scott Allen Landers

of Little Rock, AR

February 18, 1984 - January 8, 2020

Scott Allen Landers of Little Rock entered the gates of Heaven to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on January 8, 2020 while doing what he enjoyed most: spending the day with his family and friends while duck hunting in Arkansas' great outdoors. Scott was born on February 18, 1984 in Little Rock to Steve and Sandy McMahan Landers. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Bob and Bonnie Landers; his maternal grandparents, John G. McMahan Sr. and Blanche McMahan Lewallen; and cousins, John G. McMahan III and Jorre McMahan.

Scott packed a lot of living into his short 35 years. During high school at Pulaski Academy, he was fierce on the football field and was selected as an All-District and All-State linebacker. After graduation in 2002, he received a football scholarship to Arkansas Tech University. Practically raised on his family's car lots, he determined he would be most fulfilled returning to work full time in the business and in 2004 formed Landers Toyota with his dad and brother. A natural born salesman and car enthusiast, Scott's intuition and expertise helped the Steve Landers Automotive Group grow into one of the most successful car businesses in the country. In 2014, Scott joined with Luther Automotive Group to serve as Vice President. Scott successfully grew the Landers/Luther Southern platform to include seven dealerships in Arkansas, Missouri and Oklahoma.

The only thing that he loved more than his work and his outdoor interests was his family. In 2009, he met the love of his life, Lauren Elizabeth Arnold and they were married on August 11, 2011. The two enjoyed traveling and sharing the kitchen. He developed a passion for cooking that inspired him to explore new dishes daily.

A whole new chapter in his life began when they welcomed daughter, Londyn Elizabeth, into their world in 2013. Their family was later completed with the birth of their son, Patton Allen, in 2016. Scott saw life from a different perspective through the eyes of his children and a tough exterior gave way to a tender heart. His most important job was being a father and he treasured the time spent teaching them how to catch a fish, ride a bike, and drive a tractor. He even dressed up each Halloween as his children directed him; in 2019 he went so far as to color his hair and mustache to be the perfect tuxedo-clad Rhett Butler to his Londyn's Scarlett O'Hara.

If not at work or with his family, Scott could usually be found in the deer woods, in a duck blind or on a fish-filled pond. An excellent marksman, he took his hunting seriously and studied it constantly. In the past three years he had learned to operate farm equipment and studied agriculture to prepare his land for hunting. Although he had multiple adventures through Alaska and Africa, nothing gave him greater pleasure than his own private escapes into the Arkansas wilderness. He was looking forward to the day he could share his passion with his children.

It was not uncommon to hear secondhand accounts of small and large acts of kindness Scott quietly did for others. Many of these accounts were not known to the family until after his passing. Scott had a giving heart and often reached out to others who were in need of help.

Left to cherish his memories are his wife Lauren and his two children, Londyn and Patton; his parents Steve and Sandy Landers of Little Rock, brother Steve (Stevie) Landers, Jr. (Karmen) of Clinton; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Eddie and Dinah Arnold of Arkadelphia; sister-in-law Emily Tennyson (Josh) of Little Rock; nieces Annika and Aubree Landers, nephews Tripp Landers and Jack Tennyson.

Uncles Nick Landers (Mary Jack), Lance Landers (Darla), John G McMahan, Jr, Randall McMahan, and aunt Pam O'Neal (Gary). Cousins Josh Landers (Lindsey), Colby Landers, Jared Landers (Jessica), Kyle Landers (Leanna), Blake Landers, Gavin Landers, Jacie McMahan, and Mallory Nickels (Justin). Uncle Don McKinnie and Glen Arnold (Roxane).

Honorary pallbearers are Darren Wheeler, Chris Chase, Ivan Figueroa, Eric Scaife, Jared Neuffer, Jason Whitlock, Oliver Sobik, Mark Morcomb, Tim Hebron, Jon Roberts, Andy Gadient, David Luther, Nick Wade, Josh Tennyson, Kevin Kelley, Larry Middleton, Gary O'Neal, Dale Bruns, Will Smith, Rush Harding and Tom Barwick.

A celebration of Scott's life will be held at Immanuel Baptist Church, 501 N. Shackleford Rd., Little Rock at 11:00 A.M., Tuesday, January 14, 2020 with visitation to follow.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent in Scott's memory to Arkansas Game and Fish Commission, 2 Natural Resources Dr., Little Rock, AR 72205. https://www.agfc.com/en/about-agfc/foundation/ ; Arkansas Children's Hospital, 1 Children's Way, Little Rock, AR 72202, https://www.archildrens.org or Immanuel Baptist Church City Center, 501 N Shackleford Rd, Little Rock, AR 72211. http://ibclr.org/give/

I remember when I first met Scott he had just turned 20 years old. He had the know how of the car business beyond many twice his age and knew his way around a car deal. He was all business on the outside but he had a giving heart that not many saw or knew about. He did a lot of good deeds that you may never hear about or know of. He will be missed by all of us that knew him and many that received help that never knew from where it came.

Mrs. Landers & family,

I am a Christian and believe in the teachings of the Holy Bible. There is also great wisdom from other religion's parables... I pray, sharing this story will be accepted as a 'gift.'

'Once, a Mother went to Buddha, the wise sage of the Orient. She asked: "Why did my Son die?" The omniscient man replied: "First, bring me a mustard-seed from a house that has never known sorrow." The Mother journeyed across the earth, from home to home. She discovered 'tears-of-sadness' visit all thresholds. So, through the Mother's 'sojourn of understanding', she was blessed with a precious knowledge. Grief comes to all, in different ways and times."

Mrs. Landers, upon the 'End-of-your-Son's-life', may you, (and your family) know the assurance of angels sleeping on your shoulders; plus my prayers. along with solace and peace through Jesus Christ;

P.S.Last spring, I met your Bro John for the first time since I was 11 yrs old, he was 10 and you & your twin were wee tikes. Perhaps someday, we can all gather to be friends...

Although I do not know your family, and cannot imagine your grief, I just wanted to say Scott, his brother, and father brightened so many peoples’ day whenever we would watch their fun-loving commercials. The teasing and pranks they played on each other, and then showed on TV to all of us, would make you laugh on any day.
I trust looking back on his life, the family will see what happiness he brought to everyone.

Sandy and Steve you have my utmost sympathy. I met Scott a couple to three years earlier through one of our family friends. For some strange reason he reminded me of his grandpa Bob , really nice guy that would probably do anything for you. I’m so sorry for your loss I pray for the whole family.
