Edward James Tanis, 74, of Optimus, Arkansas passed away on Monday, December 30, 2019 at Stone County Medical Center in Mountain View, Arkansas. Edward was born on May 28, 1945 in Grand Rapids, Michigan to the late Edward James Tanis, Sr. and Anna (Carrigan) Tanis. Edward moved to Arkansas around 2000 and worked for many years in the paint and body industry. Edward loved music, working and the comradery he had with his friends, sports especially ice and speed skating, and just overall time with his family and friends. Edward was a member of Foothills Baptist Church and will be greatly missed by all of his loving family and friends.

Edward is survived by his wife Tinnie M. (Redding) Cartwright Tanis; one daughter, Debbie Huffman and husband Jeremy; four grandchildren, Doug, Lukas, Justin, Loren and several step-grandchildren along with many extended family and friends.

Edward was preceded in death by his parents, Edward James Tanis, Sr. and Anna (Carrigan) Tanis and two sisters, Betty Marie and Doris.


A memorial service for Edward is Saturday, January 4, 2019, 10:00 AM at Foothills Baptist Church with Brother Tommy Medley officiating.

Honorary pallbearers are Ron Wood, Dennis Donovan, Stan Griffith, Neal Gray, Lukas Adamski, Doug Adamski, and Justin Adamski.

Roller Crouch Funeral Home in Mountain View, Arkansas is in charge of the arrangements.

Tinnie,
My heartfelt condolences go out to you and the family. Ed was a very good man. My late husband and I always enjoyed his friendship, especially his sense of humor. We had great times together dancing and visiting with one another. I will always remember Ed's sweet smile.
