October 4, 1942 - December 20, 2019

John Barney "J.B." Treat, age 77 went home to be with the Lord on December 20th, 2019 at his home in Crystal River, Florida with his loving wife of 42 years, Cecelia by his side. They had been living in Crystal River in a home they built there beside the Gulf of Mexico since 2005. He was born in the Nubbin Hill Community of Leslie, Arkansas on October 4th, 1942 to John Barney Treat and Helen Lorene Fox Treat. J.B. was their firstborn child.

He attended Leslie School from 1st -12th grades, graduating as Valedictorian and senior class president in 1961. He enjoyed sports and excelled in basketball and baseball. J.B. was subsequently named a distinguished Graduate of the school. He spent his adult life in the building and construction business, working in Indianapolis, Chicago, Washington D.C. and Florida. He and Cecelia owned and operated a commercial drywall contracting business for over 40 years. J.B. was an avid fisherman and hunter who enjoyed both freshwater and saltwater fishing. He fished in many places from Alaska to the Gulf of Mexico and beyond. J.B. loved the Lord and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Crystal River.

Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Cecelia; son, Bentley "Ben" (Maggie); daughter, Kim; sisters, Louise (Allen) Horn and Jolene (Paul) DeVore; brother-in-law, Gary Hammond; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.

J.B. was preceded in death by his parents, Barney and Helen Treat; and sister, Linda Delores Treat Hammond.

Memorial services for J.B. will be 10:00 AM Friday, January 31st, 2020 at Roller-Coffman Chapel in Marshall, Arkansas. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to a charity of your choice.
