Not much more can be said about this special man except we loved him. Was our families doctor for it seems forever. He was there for ANY kind of help you may need at the time. Even though he has gotten his promotion from the Lord we will have a little piece of him in all our hearts as we carry on. Thank you Joe !

There is no way to thank Dr. Martindale for his guidance and kindness to me for so many years. He has been one of the giants in my life changing the direction of my life. We worked together for many years on a committee to try to help other physicians. This was a real privilege. Know he made a real difference in my life and soooo many others. I treasure that we talked recently on the phone. I will so much remember his words to me earlier in my life and now. Bless him.

Dr. Joe was a treasured friend of our family for decades. He single handedly made sure our mom was admitted to hospice when her own doctors wouldn’t. We will miss him but are grateful to have known him and will honor his memory always. We wish his family peace. He was a giant among men.

Dr. Joe had ‘it.’

What is ‘it?’

‘It’ is always walking in with a smile.

‘It’ is leaning over a patient’s bed so she can hug you even though she can’t speak.

‘It’ is a knowing nod when someone says they are spent. Spent with the worry, the uncertainty, the frustration, and the helplessness.

‘It’ stays even tempered when the phone rings for the third time during lunch.

‘It’ is staying the course long after your friends have adjourned to golf courses and cruise ships to walk the halls of the broken, the weary, and the infirm.

‘It’ picks up the stumbled and carries them the last mile.

It stops and binds the wounds of the traveler.

It holds the trembling hand of grief with steadiness and warmth.

It shows no favorites.

It does not boast.

It is patient.

It is kind.

It is LOVE.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Dr. Joe’s family and loved ones at the time of such great loss.
Many years ago Dr. Joe shared his testimony in church and it helped me understand the demon that my own Dad had fought for years when I was growing up.
Dr. Joe’s testimony helped me understand a lot more about my Dad being a functional alcoholic even though Dr. Joe’s demon was not alcohol. My Dad was clean for 20 years before he died at age 65. We had 20 years of love and memories. I will always remember Dr. Joe being willing to talk to me that day after the church service. Such a kind hearted man who understood my painful childhood and took time to answer my questions. I pray he didn’t suffer and his family
enjoyed time with him before he left to go to his Heavenly Home.
With our prayers for God’s comfort and with our
sincere sympathy~
