Larel L. ''Corky'' Wood, 89, of Judsonia, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on November 30, 2019. He was born in McJester, Arkansas on September 12, 1930. He was the son of the late Odis and Dollie (Hill) Wood.
Corky married Mary Ruth McAdams on May 19, 1951 and the Lord blessed them with 68 years of marriage. Until her health failed, they enjoyed celebrating each anniversary with family and friends. To this marriage was born five sons. Corky was a loving husband, dad and Papaw. He was a hardworking and determined man whose main goal was to provide for his family. He always loved deer hunting, especially with his sons and grandson, and was known for his beagle dogs. After his retirement from construction, he was always ready to supervise any job you started and tell you how to do it whether it was right or wrong.
Corky was a faithful member of Mt Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church at Clay and he loved his pastor, church family and friends, and especially good southern gospel music.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, his sister and brother-in law Avalee and Marvin King. Until his death, he still grieved for Lynn, his oldest son, and to know where he was, but he never gave up hope that he would see him again.
He is survived by his sons, Johnny (Patti) of Searcy and Larry (Kathy), Monty (Roseann) and David (Cherlie) of Judsonia; Grandchildren, James Wood, Jessica Watson, Sara Barner, Ashley Taylor, David Wood, Abby Wood , Shivonne McCarroll, Tena Collins, and Kimberly Simmons and a host of great grandchildren.
Visitation at Roller-Daniel Funeral Home from 6 8PM on Tuesday, December 3, and Funeral Service will be Wednesday, December 4 at 2PM also at Mt. Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church in Clay. Interment will be at Roosevelt Cemetery in Judsonia, Arkansas. Services are under the direction of Roller-Daniel, Searcy.
