Linnie Vera Jackson

of Harriet, AR

April 16, 1931 - November 29, 2019

Linnie Vera Laffoon Jackson, age 88 of Harriet, Arkansas passed from this life on Friday, November 29th, 2019 at Highland Court in Marshall, Arkansas. She was born in Rush, Arkansas on April 16th, 1931 to George L. Laffoon and Carrie Lou Lack Laffoon.

Linnie spent her first sixteen years living on the Buffalo River. In 1947 the family moved to Cozahome, Arkansas where she lived the rest of her life. She drove a team of horses and a wagon carrying the last load of goods from the river. She carried a load of canned goods packed in hay and Linnie said they only broke one jar. She rode her horse across the river to Rush to get the mail. She had several stories to tell of paddling the boat across Cedar Creek to school. Linnie met the one and only love of her life, DeVirl Jackson in 1950 and they married in 1951. She said he was the "cutest thing" and he always remembered the first time he saw her. To this wonderful union were born three children, Freddie Dean, Sherrill Lynne and Rebecca Naomi. Linnie was a member of the Assembly of God Church.

Linnie is preceded in death by her parents, George and Carrie Laffoon; her husband, DeVirl Jackson; one son, Freddie Dean Jackson; brother, Dale Laffoon; and sister, Zella Avey.

Survivors include her daughters, Sherrill (Jerry) Watts and Rebecca (James) Patterson; grandchildren, Brandi (Scott) Housley, Stephana (Randy) Hubbard, Carrie Jackson (Sammy Richardson), Kimberly (Rob) Bramlett and Simon Albrecht, Tyler Jackson and Jarrod Watts; great-grandchildren, Jack (Rose) Housley, Avery Bramlett, Jacob Loggins, Casey Hubbard, Jessie Hubbard, Hannah Housley, Aly Bramlett, Paige Loggins, Cadie Hubbard, Kynley Richardson and Kaylee Richardson; great-great grandchild, Lily Grace Housley; and many other family and friends who will mourn her passing.

Funeral services for Linnie will be 2:00 PM Tuesday, December 3rd, 2019 at Harriet Assembly of God Church with Bro. Scott Housley officiating. Special music will be performed by the family. Visitation will be 1:00 till 2:00 PM preceding the service. Burial will be in Rock Creek Cemetery in Harriet, Arkansas. Pallbearers will be Randy Hubbard, Rob Bramlett, Tyler Jackson, Jack Housley, Avery Bramlett, Casey Hubbard, Jacob Loggins and Jesse Hubbard. Honorary pallbearers will be Hannah Housley, Alyson Bramlett, Paige Loggins, Cadie Hubbard and Simon Albrecht.

Some of my earliest Searcy County memories involve meeting this lady at Rock Creek Assembly of God. Her down home kindness and sense of humor would just draw you to her and make you listen to her life stories. She was an encyclopedia of wisdom and I'm a better person for having known her.
