Marilyn Stewart Ellis, 93, of Jonesboro, passed away November 15, 2019, at Flo & Phil Jones Hospice House. She was born January 6,1926, in Ireland, Indiana, to Ross C. and Maye Stewart.

Following graduation as valedictorian of Ireland High School, she graduated from business school and went to work for Judge Barham in Osceola.

She was a lifetime member of the Methodist Church and a member of First United Methodist Church in Osceola for 52 years. She served as president of the United Methodist Women, loved being a member of the Chancel Choir and served on numerous other committees. She was a member and past president of the Osceola Hospital Auxiliary and the Osceola Jr. Auxiliary and a member of the South Mississippi County Historical Society. Her hobbies included a love of reading, playing bridge and she was an avid Cardinals fan.

Preceding her in death are her parents; husband of forty-three years, N. B. Ellis; daughter, Patricia Ann Ellis; two sisters, Joyce Stewart Smith and Helen Stewart Welborn.

Survivors include her daughter, Lisa Ellis Hook (Don); two grandchildren, Brad Hook (Amanda) and Katherine Tooke (Aaron); two great grandchildren, Jaxson and Brayden Tooke.

Funeral services will be at First United Methodist Church in Osceola, Monday, November 18, 2019, at 2:00pm with Rev. Allen Rainey and Rev. Tom Mullins officiating. Burial follows at Mississippi County Memorial Gardens.

Visitation precedes the service at the church at 1:00pm.

The family requests memorials to be made to First United Methodist Church, PO Box 393, Osceola, AR 72370.

To my lifelong friend Marilyn, My family and I will miss you greatly. Wish I could talk to you one more time... laugh about all of our youthful days. You give Winford a hug for me.
