Roy Franklin GrimmettI am a Veteran.

of Paron, AR

March 9, 1938 - November 15, 2019

Roy Franklin Grimmett was born March 9, 1938, to Aaron David Grimmett and Ethel Gertrude Love Grimmett. He was raised in a home in Ferndale built on Grimmett Lane. His home was constructed by lumber sawed out by Aaron's mill. He had 5 siblings: Joyce Maxwell, Eldeen Osban, Donald Grimmett, Mary Ellen James, and Debbie Pounders.
Roy moved to California right after graduating from Joe T. Robinson High School in order to find work and join siblings & friends already there. He met a wonderful lady, Rosia Ann Wade, in California, and was married on April 10, 1959. Shortly after, Roy was drafted into the U.S. Army and deployed to Germany during the Cold War. His son, Roy Mark, was born while he was deployed. Upon his return from the military, he and Rosia moved with their young family to Ferndale where they also built a house on Grimmett Lane.

In the years to follow, he raised Roy Mark and two more sons, Forrest Lee and Allen Franklin Grimmett. Roy worked for Wonder Bread most of his career and after the bakery closed, he finished his working years at Lab Corp. He retired and resided the rest of his days with his wife Rosia on Grimmett Mountain. Rosia passed away March 17, 2018, after 59 years of marriage. Roy, 81 years old, went to join the Lord peacefully in his home surrounded by his family on November 15, 2019.

He is survived by two of his sons, Forrest Lee & Marlana Gail Grimmett, and Allen Franklin & Deborah Lee Grimmett. He had four grandchildren: Emilee Katherine, Taylor Wade, Garrett Mason, & Chadwick Allen. He had three great-grandchildren: Caleb Andrew Crowder, Noah James Crowder, & Ameila Rose Grimmett. He is preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Donald Ray, his son Roy Mark, grandson Taylor Wade, and loving wife Rosia Ann.

It was an honor to have Roy as an Uncle. We sure love him & enjoyed our visits with him. He was always so kind. We will miss him, but carry some great memories of him.

When he worked for Wonder Bread, Roy's brother, Donald had cows that one day, got into the Bread Truck. One of the cows, Lena, ate a lot of the bread & wound up getting badly bloated. On a Sunday evening before Church, David & them realized there was a problem & found Lena bloated & lying down. They had to do what was necessary to take care of her, so they had to give her an enema, using the water hose. David said that when the enema took place, she had Wonder Bread Bags flying from her intestines. I laughed so hard, but I always thought of that when I'd see & visit with Roy. I have often wondered if he thought that was funny.
