Nelda Jean Bettis

of Bono, AR

July 9, 1943 - November 12, 2019

Nelda Jean Bettis, 76, of Bono, went to sleep in the arms of her Creator God on Tuesday, November 12, 2019 at St. Bernards Medical Center and will be at rest, awaiting the return of Jesus Christ at the resurrection. She was born in Goose Creek, TX on July 9, 1943, but lived in the Jonesboro area for the last 45 years. She worked for the Arkansas State Health Department, MDHS Medical Consultants, St. Bernards Hospital and several local physicians until illness forced her retirement in 2000. She was a long-time member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, where she was loved and nurtured by her wonderful church family, and played the piano, served as Treasurer, participated in the prison ministry, and told the children's story at church each Sabbath.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Odell Martin and Ramona Marie Riley Martin; and one son, Danny Odell Bettis.

She leaves behind her husband and friend of 55 years, Dan W. Bettis; daughters, Robin Collins and Kelly Pudgil; two sons, Russell Bettis and Shawn Bettis; two brothers, Tracy Martin (Marietta) and Michael Martin (Lisa); eight grandchildren, Jennifer, Jared, Samantha, Ryan, Kyle, Riley, Jeremiah and Meghan; and four great grandchildren. She was loved by many and will be dearly missed by all.

Funeral services and a Celebration of Life will be 10 am Thursday at the Seventh-day Adventist Church, 2317 West Washington Avenue, in Jonesboro with Pastor Tommy Blount officiating. Burial will follow at Trinity Cemetery in Bono.

Family members will proudly serve as pallbearers.

Anyone wishing to leave memorials may donate to the Seventh-day Adventist Church Building Fund.

Arrangements by Roller-Farmers Union Funeral Home of Jonesboro.

"I know for certain that we never lose the people we love, even to death. They continue to participate in every act, thought and decision we make. Their love leaves an indelible imprint in our memories. We find comfort in knowing that our lives have been enriched by having shared their love."
