Marian Louise (Skelton) Grant Swift, 85, of Conway passed from this world for a long overdue rest on Monday, October 14, 2019.

The only daughter of the late Jacob Yoes Skelton and Louise Mary (Nabholz) Skelton, she was born March 26, 1934, in Menifee, AR. A lifelong Catholic, she graduated from St. Joseph High School in Conway in 1952.

She married John William Grant that same year, moving to Tennessee before coming back to Arkansas and, eventually back to Conway. John died in December, 1978.
In 1994, she married William Swift, which lasted until his death in April, 2009 in Maumelle, AR.

Marian held a number of jobs in her life, the most productive being a legal secretary, then later as secretary and assistant to Bishop Andrew J. McDonald of the Catholic Diocese in Little Rock.

Besides her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by three brothers, James Albert Skelton, Phillip Daniel Skelton and David Francis Skelton; a son, James Kevin Grant; son-in-law, Larry Helton, and great-nephew, Jared Nathaniel Skelton.

Marian is survived by her brother, Walter Louis Skelton; three daughters, Jacqueline Louise Helton, Leslie Anne Rogers, and Melanie Jean Blake (Michael); three sons, Patrick Neil Grant (Carla), Barry Stephen Grant (Cathie, and Richard Lee Grant (Debbi).

Other survivors include 14 grandchildren, eight nieces and nephews and a number of close relatives and friends gathered throughout her life.

A visitation will be at 6pm, followed by the recitation of the holy rosary at 7pm, on Thursday, October 17th at Roller-McNutt Chapel in Conway. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2pm, Friday, October 18th at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Conway.

Marian will always be remembered as a gentle and caring mother and grandmother. She lightened every room she entered and always had a smile and hug to give. I will never forget Pickle Juice!

I'm so sorry to learn of Marian's passing. She was a kind , wise,spirit-led friend who welcomed me when I first joined the St. John's staff . We shared a love of reading and swapped books & discussions often. I wish you all Peace as you process her life and your memories . I will remember her fondly always,
