Our sympathy to Flora, Dede, Lena and families. Betty was a beautiful, classy, and generous sister-in-law. Married to Pearl's brother Peter, she helped plan and offered their home for our wedding in 1965. And they rented their converted garage to us for $100./month,(the amount they paid to heat their pool), while Bob finished school and Pearl worked at a nearby hospital for 2 years. This was really special as I wanted a nice wedding for Bob's parents/family, so proud of their son Bob! (My parents were not in favor of the wedding or Bob so this was so generous!) "Gleep", our first prolific cat was an offspring of their cat and she never complained about the climbing/shredding of curtains and the Siamese howling at all hours. Peter and Betty were both devoted to their medical business. We often saw them working over their microscopes in the evening while we frolicked in their pool or played volleyball on their court with our friends. Also fond memories of a "Grand Circle" trip to Malta with them in the 1980's. Betty lived a busy and fulfilling life with many trips and happy adventures. We will miss her.

So sorry to hear of the passing of Aunt Betty. She and Uncle Peter were very kind and supportive to me by driving down to see me in Little Rock when I was in treatment for multiple myeloma. The last several years I was able to visit and take her out for lunch in Mountain Home each June. It was always fun and interesting to talk to her about her life, music, and travels around the world.

I pray that our Lord will comfort Deidre, Flora, Lena and their families in this time of loss.

My mother taught us to love music. I fondly remember her having us sing songs from musicals as we traveled cross traveled. I will miss her cheerfulness, perseverance, and beautiful smile. May she rest with my father.

Betty was such a Musical Gift to Mountain Home. I was lucky enough to be in the MH symphony with her for a couple of years and then become even better friends when we were building the Vada Sheid Center where the Dykstras gave a very significant gift to insure the auditorium and stage could be built. My time spent in her home, admiring her art and musical environment was a personal gift each time I visited. Her sweet spirit will live on through songs and inspirational thoughts. Prayers for the family members that have lost such a special lady!

My heartfelt condolences to Flora, Lena, Dede and their kids on the loss of their beloved mother and grandmother. Gracious and classy are the first words that come to my mind when I remember Aunt Betty. I remember her long blond hair always perfectly coifed and the intelligent twinkle in her eyes. I very much appreciated as a child the annual Christmas Carol tickets to the Glendale Center Theatre that Uncle Peter and Aunt Betty gifted my brothers and me. This gift opened doors I would not have known if not for them. I'm sorry I never got to visit Aunt Betty in her beautiful house in Mountain Home. She was so proud of it and the treasures she and Uncle Peter collected during their many years of travel throughout the world. Aunt Betty inspired me to visit South Africa last May. A Christian life well lived with the man she loved so much. Truly an inspiring woman who touched so many lives. With Love, Your Niece,
Patty Ann

I will miss you very much my dear Grandma Betty! There were many special moments between us, though I wished we had spent more time together. Nonetheless you will always be an inspiration to me. Your adventurous spirit, zest for life and learning new things, quick wit, and impeccable style will never be forgotten. I am happy that you had a full life with not a day wasted. Rest In Peace. Love you grandma.

From Wayne: My wife, Judy-deceased-and I enjoyed dancing in the "ballroom" in their home. She and I played in the Church orchestra where we became friends. Betty was always pleasant and gracious.
From Suzanne: Betty was my mentor from Church. When she was ill and recovering, I could see that she worked hard to get to her norm in walking and singing. She was a fighter and I told her she was the "comeback kid." Betty happily shared her visits to art shows with great enthusiasm. I only knew Betty for about 12 years. She has been missed.
Our prayers to you all in this time of sorrow.

Good morning, merry sunshine,
How did you wake so soon?
You've scared the little stars away,
And shone away the moon.
I watched you go to sleep last night,
Before I stopped my play,
How did you get way over there,
And, pray, where did you stay?

I never go to sleep, dear,
I just go 'round to see
My little children of the East,
Who rise to watch for me.
I waken all the birds and bees,
And flowers on my way,
Then last of all, the little child
Who stayed out late to play.

Had some more time to reflect on Aunt Betty. I remember all the bright colored convertibles and her blond hair flying. Eating Indian food in Little Rock. Singing full throttle with her and Peter in church. Getting asked awkward but inquiring questions. She truly lived.

My husband and I were saddened to learn of Betty Dykstra’s recent passing. She was a good neighbor, friend and a talented musician who taught our daughters their piano, viola and cello skills. We have many fond memories of her delightful recitals for her students. Always gracious, kind and generous to her community, she (and her husband, Peter) will always be remembered fondly.

We have many memories of knowing her as a neighbor and wonderful music teacher. She will be missed.

My deepest condolences to Betty's family. She was a great friend at Strong Women exercise as I always sat next to her. She never skipped a beat when she kept the cadence for our marching exercise. Her witty comments always amazed me. She is missed.
