Delores Janette (Stephens) Garner passed away Tuesday, September 24, 2019 at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House. She was born in Trumann, AR on October 29, 1930. She graduated from Jonesboro High School in 1948 and married the love of her life, Conway "Doc" Garner. They were owners of Superior Chemicals.
She spent 13 years in Flint, MI but lived most of her life in Jonesboro. She worked in Administration at St. Bernards Hospital and was a bookkeeper for Arkansas Insurance. She was a member of North Main Baptist Church where she was active in the Children's Department and a member of the Bykota Sunday School Class.
She loved her family and was always ready for a family gathering. Whether it was a hayride, fishing, lake trip, swim party or visiting the Smoky Mountains, she was always ready to join in the fun. She was known in the family as a great cook. You could always find her with her apron on rolling out homemade dumplings, frying chicken and making fried pies. Christmas was not complete without her famous jam cake.
Preceded in death by her parents, Luther and Maude (Gunter) Stephens; her husband of 53 years, Conway Garner; her daughter, Kathy Gott and 7 sisters, Lela Thomas, Lessie Byard, Nadine Clark, Geneva Foster, Maggie Kagen, Marie Jones, and Bessie Lindley.
She is survived by three daughters, Judy Childers (Chris) of Jonesboro, Susan Lumpkin (Gerald) of Horseshoe Bend and Connie Clark (David) of Jonesboro; 11 grandchildren, Chantal Perkins (Roger), Daniel Willey, Jesse Willey, Michelle Carrier (JC), Aaron Yearta (Beth), Philip Yearta (Amanda), Hope Tyler (Zack), Dewayne Lumpkin, Adrienne Strait (Caleb), Jenny Phillips (Brent) and Billy Clark (Jade); 32 great-grandchildren and six great-great grandchildren; a sister, Willis Clark of Westland, MI and a brother, Luther Stephens, Jr of Mt. Morris, MI. A special thank you to her niece, Nancy Cook for loving her and taking such good care of her.
Funeral services will be 10 am Friday, September 27, 2019 at North Main Baptist Church, 815 N. Main Street in Jonesboro with Bro. Gary Brown officiating. Burial will be at Philadelphia Cemetery.
Visitation will be 5 pm to 7 pm Thursday at Roller-Farmers Union Funeral Home, 1900 West Washington Avenue in Jonesboro.
Active pallbearers will be Mrs. Garner's six grandsons, Danny Willey, Jesse Willey, Aaron Yearta, Philip Yearta, Dewayne Lumpkin and Billy Clark. Honorary pallbearers will be the deacons of North Main Baptist Church.
Lasting memorials can be made to North Main Baptist Church.

Delores was as fine a lady as they come. She was gracious and a loyal ervant of the Lord. She loved her family and her church. She will be greatly missed by so many that loved & adored her. Heaven certainly gained an Angel. Prayers & love sent to her precious family whom I love dearly.
