Kenneth Franklin Young, 86, of Jonesboro, passed away, Friday, September 20, 2019, at Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House. Mr. Young was born October 12, 1932 in Bono. Kenneth lived most of his adult life in California as a minister for the Churches of Christ, resettling in Jonesboro in 1993. He most recently attended Valley View Church of Christ. He loved to play his guitar and sing old country music with friends at the nursing homes. He also loved teaching Bible class, studying his Bible and spending time with his family. Kenneth was a Navy veteran.
He was preceded in death by his parents Herman Young and Willie-Mae (O'Conner); his wife of 49 years, Ada Louise (Harris) Young; son, David Young; daughter-in-law, Karla Young; two brothers, W.D. Young and Lavone Young; two sisters, Ophelia Ford and Louise Ford.
Survivors include his wife, Jean Carr Jones Young; sons, Steve and Tim (Nicole)Young; sister, Moline Caples; step sons, Terry (Martha) Jones, Robert Jones; step daughters, Lara (Kevin) Bailey, Donna (Dennis) Mason; six grandchildren; eight step grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; five step great grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be Monday, at 2:00pm, at Roller-Farmers Union Funeral Home with Spencer Furby and Terry Smith officiating. Pallbearers include Steve Young, Will Young, Preston Murphree, Terry Jones, Robert Jones, Kevin Bailey and Dennis Mason. Burial will be private.
Visitation precedes the service from noon until 2:00pm at the funeral home.

MY SISTER AND I KNEW KEN FROM APPLE HILL CHURCH OF CHRIST. AS WELL AS LISTENING TO SOME OF HIS SERMONS AND LOVING THE GREAT HYMNS HE LED; WE ALSO THOUGHT OF HIM AS A GREAT MAN.
HE ALSO WAS THE MINISTER AT A COUPLE OF OUR FAMILY MEMBERS' FUNERALS AND WE WERE HONORED HE DID THAT FOR US.
WE SEND OUR HEARTFELT SYMPATHY TO ALL FAMILY MEMBERS. WE ARE SURE HE WILL BE TRULY MISSED AS WELL AS LIVING IN YOUR HEARTS FOREVER.
