Betty L. Chapman, 81, of Bryant passed away Sunday, September 8, 2019. She was born January 31, 1938 in Gillham, Arkansas to the late Roy and Iva Beckwith. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Josh L. Chapman; brothers, Harold and Ronnie Beckwith; sister, Nona Garibay; granddaughter, Rachel Ann Chapman; sister-in-law, Betty Jo Beckwith; and brother-in-law, Abe Von Hatton.
She was known for being an avid reader. You could often find her spending time reading a book, working crossword puzzles, or enjoying her favorite golden Oreos. She will be remembered as a wonderful mother, grandmother, and friend who always put others above herself.
Survivors include sons, Stephen L. Chapman, the Nomad, and Edward L. Chapman (Donna) of Arlington, Washington; daughters, Debbie Elder of Bryant and Denise Michelle Chapman of Fort Smith; brother, Kenneth Beckwith of Bryant; sister, Lamona Sue Von Hatton of Alverado, Texas; four granddaughters, Andrea Nelson, Jennifer Ballew, Katianne Lajoie, and Megan Chapman; four great-grandsons, Corbin, Sethjan, Brody, and Ryan Ballew; sisters-in-law, Helen Williams, Lillie Beckwith, and Janet Seaborne; and a host of other family members and friends.
A gathering of remembrance will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, September 14, 2019 at the home of Debbie Elder in Bryant, Arkansas.
