Eulos Alfred HaleI am a Veteran.

of Conway, CT

November 1, 1927 - September 4, 2019

Eulos Alfred Hale died at Conway Regional Medical Center on Wednesday, Sept. 4 after a brief illness but a long and wonderful life. He was 91.

Known as Al to friends and Alfred to his mother, Mr. Hale lived in Conway at the time of his death but had lived most of his life in Marked Tree.

He was a barber in Marked Tree more than 50 years until he retired at age 80. He worked at Star Barber Shop, later named Al's Family Hair Care Center.  His awards included Roffler's Stylist of the Year.

A graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Marked Tree Cemetery with Ronnie Benson officiating.

Mr. Hale was born in Nashville on Nov. 1, 1927, to the late Mamie Marie Chandler Hale and June Thomas Hale.

He left college to join the Navy, was a World War II veteran and served on the USS Nevada battleship.

A Christian, Mr. Hale was a fighter for his beliefs, his health, his family and God. He was baptized in the Blue Bayou in Howard County. He often preached in Marked Tree, Caraway, Rivervale and Trumann. He was an elder at Liberty Street Church of Christ in Marked Tree.

Mr. Hale loved his family more than himself. Survivors include his beloved wife of 70 years, Dorothy Smith Hale; his daughters, Debra Hale-Shelton and Terri Swan; his grandsons, Audie Swan and Tyler Swan; and his granddaughter, Annie Marie Ping Shelton, all of Conway.

He enjoyed fishing, golfing, boating and camping. He was on the Marked Tree City Council and the city's Cemetery Board, and coached Little League baseball.

Papa served his country in WWII on the USS Nevada, after it was damaged in Pearl Harbor. He wore many different hats for his community. He had an unwavering faith in the lord and loved his family dearly. He was the most selfless person I’ve ever known. I’m grateful for all the kind deeds and lessons I learned from him. I was blessed to have been around him in many rounds of golf, fishing & camping trips, and many shared birthdays dinners. Thank you for all you have done and the many lives you have impacted with your good works.

I remember Brother Hale when my father, Vernon Love, preached at the Liberty Street Church of Christ in Marked Tree. I was in middle school but I remember how kind he was to everyone! Living in Marked Tree with all of my friends from school and church was the best time in my childhood. Rest in peace Brother Hale!

Al was my barber, bible class teacher, little league coach that gave me his glove prior to my first game, mentor, and baptized me in 1965. He and my dad served God as elders in Marked Tree when I was growing up.
I loved Al and he is resting with his reward in Paradise after serving God and standing for the truth throughout his life. I will miss him.

My Uncle Al was a great man with his God, his family, his country, and his community. Those who knew him will miss him because of his love for His Lord that he lived out with his family and community, but because of what he gave to others we will not wish he could have given more. He gave his all because his Savior gave His all. We would cherish one more day selfishly because he is now in the presence of his Lord and King who he now fellowships with and we would not deny him that joy. Love him and Dorothy and family.

To the man I love more than any other man on this earth: I miss you so much, Daddy. I could not have asked for a better father, role model, and teacher. Thank you for climbing those steep stairs to bring me lunch, for filling my car up with gasoline, checking the oil and the radiator fluid, for writing me letters when I was far away, for making sure I never went without. All those little and big things added up to a mountain of love. Thank you for a good life. I will never forget you. Deb

AL was a good friend & barber colleague of my Dad, Tommy Morrison. Also for 17 yrs. AL was my Uncle by marriage. He always had a smile on his face & a great wit about him. The world was a better place having AL Hale in it. God bless Aunt Dorothy, Debbie & Teri. Forever in my heart, Pat Morrison-Purifoy

Pawpaw was a selfless man who loved his family and his church. He offered extensive support to family and friends throughout his life and was instrumental in seeing all family members graduate college. Everyone that knew him has a story that makes them laugh. He was an avid golfer during his younger years and still enjoyed watching golf on television as he got older. He had recently indicated he wished he could still play golf and I imagine he's probably setting up his next tee shot now. Thank you for everything.

The best dad and granddad anyone could ever have. His beliefs and family always came first. He loved life and made friends everywhere he went. One of the last things he said to me was that everyone was nice to him. He was my rock and I will miss him dearly. I love you daddy and I know you will be watching over us. You might be shaking your head or laughing, but that's ok. Your grandchildren loved you and you raised us well.
