Lori Ann Lindsey (Johnson)

of Washington DC, DC

April 29, 1980 - August 13, 2019

Lori Ann Lindsey, 39 of Washington, D.C. went to her heavenly home on Tuesday, August 13, 2019. She was born in Little Rock, Arkansas on April 29, 1980 to Loy and Susan Dewey of Clinton, Arkansas.

Lori was a 2001 graduate of Arkansas Tech University.  She taught ESL at Morrilton High School while pursuing her master's degree.  With a family history in law enforcement and her desire to make a difference in the war on drugs, she changed her career. In 2004 she graduated as a Special Agent from the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) Academy in Quantico, Virginia.  After serving as a DEA Agent for several years in Atlanta Georgia, she returned home to Arkansas to spend time with her family and friends.  While here, she worked for the Tri-State CAMP program as a tutor/mentor for students attending college at UACCM.  In 2014 she relocated once again to Washington D.C. and joined a non-profit organization.  She served on various committees as an advocate in public policy issues including law enforcement officers who were affected by PTSD and other work-related medical issues, immigration, and conservative gun control laws.

While in Washington, Lori met and married her husband Greg Lindsey. They enjoyed cooking and quiet evenings together with their four-legged baby, Jax. Though their time together was short, their love is eternal.

Lori was a loving and compassionate person.  ''Love,'' Lori would say, ''is just a word until an action is taken,'' so to say that Lori ''loved'' would be an understatement.  Whether cooking and delivering home-made soup for the homeless, lending her voice to U.S Congress, volunteering, or giving a compliment to a stranger on the street, she felt the need to serve.  She was a frequent visitor to the Arlington National Cemetery.  She had a strong desire to pray for and honor those who had died defending our country.

She loved her family, Christmas, her country, music and traveling; but the ocean had a special place in her heart.  Her family has many memories of vacations spent at Gulf Shores, Mexico, and cruises.  She would comment to her mother, ''Mom the ocean is calling.''

Lori accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at a young age.  She was a woman of faith and a member of Friendship Baptist Church in Clinton. Throughout her travels and desire to help others, she never forgot her home and friends in Arkansas. As one friend said, ''We will miss her soft, kind heart that looked out for others more than it sought to protect itself.  She will always be remembered as that pretty little girl from a small town in Arkansas.''

Lori is survived by her loving husband, Greg Lindsey and their devoted and loving Jax, of Washington, D.C.  Her mother Susan (Jerry) Kissinger, a grandmother Patti Coney (Don) all of Conway. A bonus-grandmother Ina Kissinger, brother Lane (Nikki) Housley all of Greenbrier, AR. Three nieces, Kenadee Housley, Paige (Hunter) Winston of Greenbrier, AR, Ashley (Braxton) Lance of Mena, Arkansas and a host of uncles, aunts, cousins and friends.

Lori was preceded in death by her father Loy G. Dewey, grandparents G.C. and Shirley Dewey and Grady Keith.

Please join us in our Celebration of Life Service in remembering and honoring Lori, Saturday, September 7th at Friendship Baptist Church in Clinton, AR. Friends will be received from 1:00 pm 2:00 pm. Celebration of Life Services will begin at 2:00 pm. Friends and Family are encouraged to bring their memories, a favorite picture, or stories that they would like to share with the family.

Interment will be at Crest Lawn Memorial Park with arrangements by Roller McNutt.

Susan & Family,

We love you Susan & are so sorry this heartbreaking loss. Although we really did not know Lori personally, we do remember watching your kids growing up in church. It was always apparent how close you were to your beautiful children. We realize how hard this is on you and your entire family. What a blessing to know she Loved & Served the Lord. Just know we Love you & are thinking of you, Lane & all of your family.

We loved her very much, we will never forget her beautiful smile, Lori was an amazing person. The last time I had seen Lori she told me her plan, and she wanted to make a different, well she did make a difference in this world went after that dream. The impact she made will be her legacy. When you see how many lives a person has touched. In so many ways you know how many loved her for being strong and willing to help this world a better place. Well done sweet Lori!
