Jerry Claude Gist, 69, of Batesville passed away on Wednesday, August 21, 2019.
He was born on July 29, 1950 in Heber Springs, Arkansas to Everett Olen Gist and Billie (Carnett) Gist.
Jerry was a member of the Faith Hopewell Cumberland Presbyterian Church and also belonged to the White River Cruiser's Car Club. He loved antique cars and motorcycles, riding his Goldwing, watching baseball and western movies, and spending time with his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, Leveta Mae (McVay) Gist; two sons, Jason Gist (Jessica) of Denver, Colorado and Adam Gist of Cincinnati, Ohio; four grandchildren, Whitaker Gist, Caeley Gist, Hadley Jackson, and McKenna Grigsby; and two sisters, Beverly Verser and Wanda Petree (Rickey) both of Batesville.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
There will be a memorial service held at 11 am Saturday, August 24, 2019 with Ryan Puckett officiating.

I just learned of Jerry's passing. I was always thought of Jerry as a good friend and classmate at BHS. He was a good athlete in football and baseball. He always had a positive attitude about life. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Gist family.

So sorry for the loss of a good man gone way too soon. I met Jerry about 5 yrs ago when I started calling on SNL for Arkansas Trailer. Jerry treated me like I was one of his best friends. He always had a funny story to tell me and always asked about my family. Not gonna say "Goodbye" ole buddy, just gonna say "Until we meet again!" Will keep all of you in my thoughts and prayers.
