Wyllodean Renfroe

of Marshall, AR

July 18, 1927 - July 23, 2019

Wyllodean Renfroe, age 92 of Marshall, Arkansas passed from this life on Tuesday, July 23rd, 2019 at Highland Court in Marshall, Arkansas. She was born in Searcy County, Arkansas on July 18th, 1927 to Madison B. McEntire and Nancy Belle Cooper McEntire. Her parents moved to Marshall when she was eight months old, and she was a lifelong resident of Marshall except for two years spent in Caldwell, Idaho when she graduated from high school.

Wyllodean graduated from Marshall High School in 1944. She was Valedictorian of her class and had a perfect attendance record throughout her school life. In December of 1949 she met the love of her life, Vernon Renfroe. They were married September 14th, 1950 and spent thirty-eight wonderful years together. Wyllodean was warmly welcomed into the Renfroe family, and as Naomi and Ruth in the Bible, his family became her family and her family his family. They were active in their church, loved to fish, go on trips or whatever they did it was always together. They were avid Razorback fans and had season tickets to the football home games for thirty years. They saw their last game together in 1985. Wyllodean remained an avid fan and a Razorback flag usually flew from her home. Although she had no children of her own, she dearly loved each niece and nephew, always remembering birthdays, Christmas, weddings, graduations, births and any other special occasions in their lives. She was known as ''Aunt Dean'' to them. When health problems began Bill and Peggy were always there for her.
Wyllodean accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior when she was a teenager and has been a member of First Baptist Church for more than sixty years. She served as teacher, treasurer, trustee, and was on numerous committees. Her church was a very special part of her life and she loved it dearly. The numerous well worn Bibles in her home, commentaries and devotional books reflect her love for God's Word. Wyllodean retired from the Department of Human Services on October 1st, 1987, having served 33 years. She began as a stenographer, was promoted to case worker and the last four years of service she was County Administrator. She retired early because Vernon was ill and he died the following June. Prior to employment at DHS, Wyllodean was employed at the USDA ASC office in Marshall for eight years. After her husband's burial in East Lawn Cemetery, she became concerned about how the city was maintaining the cemetery. On August 31st, 1989 she and sixteen other people met and from this meeting, East Lawn Cemetery Inc. was formed and a perpetual care fund was established. A board of seven persons has overseen the collection of contributions, expenditures and maintaining the perpetual care fund. Wyllodean was elected secretary/treasurer and served in this capacity until her health prevented this service. Eleven of the seventeen original members who first saw the need as well as other board members who have served saw East Lawn as their final resting place.

Wyllodean is preceded in death by her parents, Madison and Nancy McEntire; her husband, Vernon Renfroe who passed away in 1988; sister, Verda McEntire Hill; two brothers, Bus and B. McEntire; great-niece, Dara Anne Cossey; and sister-in-law, Zaleze Sherrill.

Survivors include her nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great nieces and great-great nephews, Bill (Janie) McEntire of Marshall, Peggy McEntire of Harrison, Amy McEntire of Fayetteville, Madison (Crissy) McEntire of Bryant, Dana (Tom) Nicholas of Towanda, KS, Lori (Brady) Cossey of Cabot, Julie (Eddie) Smith of Conway, Mackenzie Shelton, Will McEntire, Andrea (Kenneth) Knoll, Abbey (Caleb) McCormick, Ashley Smith, April (Dusty) Mathis, Ava Mathis, Dax Mathis, John Nicholas and Seth Cossey; and sister-in-law, Vance Hubbard of Marshall.

Funeral services for Wyllodean will be 11:00 AM Friday, July 26th, 2019 at Roller-Coffman Funeral Home in Marshall, Arkansas. Visitation will be 10:00 till 11:00 AM preceding the service. Burial will be in East Lawn Cemetery.
