Years ago I was staying with the Davis Boys when Ms Ernestine had to break the sad news of my Grandpa (V.M. Shackelford) passing away. As it was time for me to leave the Davis home that day, the heartfelt comforting hug Ms Ernestine gave me was a memory that has lasted a lifetime.. Thank God for Christian people like Mr Ken and Mrs Ernestine Davis who made the world a better place for those of us around them. AMEN!

Dear Sweet Family,
Earnestine Davis was the best person I ever knew. Early on in our friendship, I learned (first hand) that her most visible spiritual gift was the gift of "helps". Whatever the occasion, or need, or emergency......Earnestine showed up with food, hugs, as well as prayer and encouragement. I will never EVER forget the day (January 30th, 1969 when I first met her at Harmony Baptist Church on Alice Street because it was my wedding day!! She was at the back of the sanctuary in the process of cleaning the church when Henry King and I met Bro. Vertis Shackelford with marriage license in hand....little did we know that a witness signature was necessary. So, guess whose signature is on my marriage license! Earnestine Davis organized baby showers for both of our sons, and was the first one to visit (with food of course) when we brought babies home from the hospital. She organized and prepared food for the wedding reception of our elder son (Hank) as well as for every other significant event in my life. When my dear, sweet husband of 42 years died, guess who was at my house to be with me when I came home from the hospital? She met friends and family at the door and organized all the food that was brought for the funeral, in addition to writing down everyone's name and address so I could send thank you cards later. Her listening ear, hugs and good advise got me through many hard times. This dear family may call on me....anytime, anywhere, for anything and I promise, I will be there for them!! The Arnold's and the Davis's are the most loving families that I have every known. EVER!!

Although I've known her most of my life, our paths separated, but came back together many years later when my sister married Chad. We were invited to her house for supper, and she made us feel so welcome and at home really. Find memories for sure. My condolences to the family, heaven gained an Angel
