Deone Duncan Penquite passed away peacefully Saturday, June 15, 2019, at Maple Esplanade in Harrison, Arkansas. She was born February 8, 1924, in Okmulgee, Oklahoma, to Stephen Hill Duncan and Winnie Mary (Free) Duncan. She graduated from Oklahoma A&M College (OSU) in Stillwater. Deone was a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, aunt and friend. She was an avid tennis player in high school and college. She played into her seventies winning many championships and trophies. She always had a smile on her face especially when she was on the winning side of the net. She enjoyed playing bridge, trailer camping, doing crafts, playing Sequence (the board game) and having fun with family and friends. She was a wonderful cook always trying out new recipes. Deone was involved with DAR in both Muskogee and Harrison. She and Walter were very active in the genealogy society in Muskogee and at the genealogy room at the Muskogee Public Library. They compiled many local Muskogee genealogy records that are still in use.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Walter H. Penquite; her brother, Dwyer Duncan; and her sister, Dorothy Duncan Sellers. Deone is survived by her son, Robert D. Penquite (Teri) of Harrison; her grandchildren, Angie Ellington (Bret) and great-grandson, Cooper of Fayetteville, Arkansas, Chris Penquite of Shawnee, Kansas, and Stephen Penquite (Katie) and great-granddaughter, Addison of Bonner Springs, Kansas. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank the caregivers, staff, and friends of Maple Esplanade for the loving care given to her over the past 6 years. We would also like to thank Legacy Hospice for their assistance and care.

A graveside service will be held at a later date at Greenhill Cemetery in Muskogee, Oklahoma.

Dear Don and Judy; Bob and Teri:
So sorry to hear of your precious mother’s passing. What a beautiful tribute to Deone, our favorite neighbor. It was through her passion for tennis and practice that our son Carter (44) still plays competitively both singles and doubles in Allen TX. Loved her smile and our times of conversation and visits. Please keep us informed as to graveside services. Blessings to all Beverly
