Martin Harrison Varnell, 77 of Batesville passed away on Saturday, May 25, 2019.

He was born on December 9, 1941 in Paris, Arkansas to Walter William Varnell and Allie (Harrison) Varnell.

Martin was a member of First Church UPC of Batesville and loved his family, his church and was a dependable and hardworking man retiring from ConAgra after 28 years; he also loved working in the yard and gardening.

Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Daisy (Lunsford) Varnell; one son, Michael Varnell (Rachel) of Velvet Ridge; one daughter, Beverly Mason (Tim) of Lowell; three grandchildren, Jeremy Mason (Brittany), Andrea Mason, and Hunter Varnell; two great-grandchildren, Chloe and Carter Mason; one brother, Donald Varnell (Becky) of Dumas; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Norman, Billy, and Boyd Varnell; and four sisters, Hazel Sharp, Juanita Sloan, Eula Lemonds, and Beula Lemonds.

Funeral services will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 30, 2019 in the Roller-Crouch Chapel with M.D. Parmley, Jeremy Mason, and Wesley Wren Jr. officiating. There will be no committal services for the burial at Pleasant Valley Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 29, 2019 at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to First Church UPC, 240 White Drive, Batesville, AR 72501.

Our PRECIOUS Bro. Varnell what a true CHRISTIAN. I know we grieve but it's because we miss him, for he has gone to his reward that he had lived for no more pain or suffering. He is free from care all is Happy. Sis. Daisy we Love you and we will ALWAYS be here for you if we can do ANYTHING. We LOVE YOU DEARLY. YOU ARE OUR FRIEND. GOD BLESS AND COMFORT YOU.

My heart goes out to all of uncle Martin family even tho we are all gonna miss him I know my mom and his mom and dad and aunt beulah and others are rejoicing to have him with them and I know God needed him he was done with him here on earth but he needed him doing something in heaven I love all of you but my heart goes out to ya I know what ya are feeling and I will not say it gets easier because it has not gotten easier for me but God has help me cope some and he will help ya to love ya
